As posted on Moparts.... sorry, but I'm proud of my chrome ass.  :icon_smile_cool: :icon_smile_big:

My boogers are black and my clothes are rusty now, but my Dana 60's finally most of the way in.  The pinion angle is off, I need longer U-bolts, my shocks are on the way, and the driveshaft needs to be cut, but I'm on the home stretch.  Which is a good thing, I've spent way too much on this already.  :P

Don't make fun of my bike.  A friend pulled that out of the garbage and I painted it myself. :p

Nick!!!

As much as I love Dana rears and all,  it's NOT what I expect to see in off topic when I click on a thread called Hot Rear Action!   This goes in the general - let's keep this forum to not quite smut like it should be.

I'm almost disappointed now ya dig  :'(

Oh... I get 3 1/8" X 8" U bolts from Autozone in a box of 2 off the shelf.    Murrays or whoever probably has the same stuff.    I actually got a set of MP 3" x 7" someplace that didn't quite fit  my converted truck rear someplace.. but I got no clue where to start looking right now.    Oh wait... who am I kidding?  You can go right to Mancini's tomorrow.... nevermind l     :P

I'm sorry.  It's been awhile for me, and the car porn's the best I've got.  :icon_smile_dead:

You'd probably remember that "Hot Rear Action" is one of Drew & Mike's favorite taglines.  It never gets old.

It's funny about the u-bolts, the driver's side fits fine. However, the passenger side isn't even close.  Part of it is the extra half-leaf in the S/S spring...but I'm not sure why else it's different.  Everything measures okay, too.  I'll just go ahead and change both sides, because I still need to stuff a 4* shim in there, too.

I can ride my bicycle to Mancini's.  Problem is, I'm usually never home when they're open!  :eyes:  I should borrow a GT40 one saturday and take it up there. :D

Nice work Nick    ....got me one of those DR. Diff converted D-60's for my 68. Nice job with the detailing as well....what'd you use on the underside...por-15 ? Rust bullet ?

Rust-oleum, actually.  POR-15 is decent if the surface you're painting is rusty... if it's otherwise clean, it peels up in sheets over time.  After pulling the fuel tank out I was shocked how clean it was underneath (with the exception of wheelhouses and 1/4 extensions).  So, I cleaned it up with a wire brush, scotch-brite pads, washed it, and shot it in rustoleum primer, followed by satin black.

That turned out nice for a "quickie" job....the rustoleum seems to have covered well. I'm going to shoot the underside of mine this week with some Resto Rick "Zerorust". Hopefully it looks as nice as yours.

Looks good Nick but I have 2 questions.

(1) How wide is that rear, it looks like you got it bit shorter, correct?
(2) With the rear end bullet proof what are ya gonna break now?   :icon_smile_tongue:

Great looking upgrade.

Definately makes the back end look sharper.

Blusmbl

Yep!  Definitely need to restore the rest of the car now. :D

1) actually, stock B-body width, it's no different than the 8 3/4 I pulled out.  I didn't want to move the springs inboard or mini-tub it, so the stock width is fine.

2) I call transmission!

Same as the 8 3/4, that's interesting. In your pics it looks like the backing plates are pretty close to the springs. On my Coronet, sorry my " POS Pedal Car" , I could take 2 inches off each end and the backing plates would still be off the springs. ???

Apparently my reputation precedes me.  :icon_smile_cool:  I'm just happy I won't have to worry about breaking a ring gear or main caps anymore.

No fluid in it yet (that's coming shortly) but it will be getting synthetic.  Mostly because I can grab it from work.  :icon_smile_evil:

Sledge, it's ~60" from flange to flange.  It may just be an optical illusion.  :-\
