Why do people do this?

This is supposed to be a barn find car and it looks like it has had at least a $20 paint job done on it recently. Even the rust is painted red.

Because cars that are all one color always sell for more. Psychologically, people are tuned off by cars in multiple colors or with patches of primer. It could also be an attempt to cover the rust to slow down the process.

my brother had a car same options and color as that car circa 1976 , wow that bring up some memories . It has a fresh balanced and blue printed motor installed and with the 4 speed at age 8 my brother used to scare me to death in the thing .

Also looks like the paint has been on there for some time now, maybe to slow down rust...but looks like it would make a cool project.

I don't know if this is a proven fact but I believe it. I know when I look at cars for sale the ones that are all one color attract my attention more than the calico style.
