Some guys see the four door sedan as a lot like taking your sister to the prom-the last option. But they can be the most affordable entry level buy in old car world.

My father had a gorgeous '63 Chrysler Saratoga- very similar to the car in the photo. 383 two barrel with a push button trans. Loved driving that car.

That thing is awesome! I'd drive that any day of the week, it just has class to it!

QuoteWant proof? Park that "more door" Catalina in the middle of twelve 64 GTOs at a show and see where the spectators linger the longest.

Simple answer-Dad never drove a GTO back in the 60s.

Actually my Dad did have a 66 GTO for a while, and then traded it in on a 67 Ford F100  :brickwall:  I've had a few old 4 door cars. I had a 62 Galaxie that was fun to load the wife and kids up and go to the lake.

Several years ago, there was an elderly gentleman in  my hometown that had a '67 Plymouth Fury 4-door that he bought new. He took pretty good care of it and the car was a nice survivor by the time he got too old to drive it and he put it up for sale (thiis was about 1993 or so). I wanted this car REALLY bad, but I was a poor college student at the time and I just couldn't scrape the funds together. I sure hope it went to a good home.

I wanted a good solid reliable classic car daily driver so I bought this 72 Satellite last fall and parked my late model truck.  318 car with 32,000 miles, 20-ish mpg.  1000 reliable miles a month and no worries about stuck gas pedals.   Nice bonus is it came with HD brakes and a 3.23 8 3/4 SG so I see a tow hitch in its future for my boat.

When you say boat are you talking about the car or something you want to pull behind the car?  :2thumbs: just had to say that. I want a big old 4 door boat myself. The bigger the better. I like yours.

thanks for the compliments guys :2thumbs:  I love that Satellite, I take it everywhere, I know it will start everytime.  Even my wife loves it because its quiet, it has 4 doors and its easier to load the kids into than her Durango.  It gets lots of attention at car shows too (when was the last time you saw one?) but I like it because its old, its cool, its a Mopar and my Dad had one just like it when I was little so everytime I get in it, its like Im riding around with my Father again.

sure thing and more thanks

the original AM radio works great but I need to wire in a decent stereo and a couple of good speakers, probably under the seat but for now I have an FM adapter that I can plug my IPod or Sirius into.  The bench has a couple of tears so I threw a mexican blanket on it-best seat cover ever!  It is a very comfortable, very quiet car-38 years old and no rattles or wind or water leaks.  The 318 has just enough rumble to remind you that it has pre-emissions era V8 under the hood and no Im not putting a dual exhaust or a 4 barrel on it.  Its about as quick as a modern V6 Charger or Impala and probably gets about the same (or better) gas mileage, plus it has much more head and leg room and a much bigger trunk.

So before you part out your next 4 door parts car, it may turn out to be a decent daily driver.  There is life beyond musclecars!

I have a 4 door Chrysler sedan that I inherited. 1979 Chrysler Newport, a true survivor car.
It has 100,000 salt free miles on the body

Since the orig 318 had some issues I installed a correct for 1979 - a 360 built like a 340. Sure i did some suspension upgrades as well but all with stock parts. This is the last car you expect to fly better than a 69 road runner and out handle your neon.

Tom Q

202 heads, balanced, blueprinted, 9.5 compression. Split lift/duration cam, 68-70 340 exhaust manifolds

BIRD67

Very Nice! SOunds like you have a nicely warmed over 360 in there.. any more pics besides the engine? :drool5:

Both the Satellite and that Newport are awesome! I used to have a 318 1969 triple black Fury VIP, I took the side skirts off and the white walls, installed new blackwall BF Goodriches and painted black steel wheels with Plymouth dog dishes and installed a dual exhaust.....I regret ever getting rid of that car :'(

Actually I#m not a 4 door guy, but there are some that rilly rock!

I think Ford usually did a good job on 4 doors. The proportions usually look right here. Had a 67 Galaxie. Had a good shape.

Here's my first choice for a 4 door! Gators 4 Speed NO HUBCAP (I do not like dog dishes) brown moonshiner.

It is so bad ass! I need one someday!
