I just got 2006 crew cab GMC sierra 1500. Its all stock other than a magnaflow exhaust. I want to add performance parts to it and was wondering if i could get some suggestions. I have already bought edelbrock shorty headers and will be putting them on soon.

I have looked at things such as....
-throttle body spacer
-cold air intake
-mass air flow sensor
-e3 plugs and new wires(would firecores make a difference)

Any other suggestions or ideas would be awesome. Thanks.

Yeah, go to a GM forum. Haaaaa, just kiddin.  Welcome aboard.
You do know this is a MOPAR forum, right?

and yes, firecores are the bomb.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I kinda saw that coming. I was referred to this site by a friend who has a 72 charger. I was told that i could get some help on here. GM forums suck and this is the discussion board for vehicles other than chargers. SO it would be awesome if i could get some actual help. Thanks.

easiest thing to do is to reprogram the computer (i.e. flash it) with a reputable program to increase HP and torque.  You will find your most bang for the buck there... after that, do all that you planned on doing, plus.. bigger injectors, hi-flow cat's would be extremely beneficial.

if you want to just spend some bucks.. get a supercharger setup for it.

Thanks RD. Appreciate the reply. I have a had a couple buddies suggest the supercharger also. I just dont know if i should spend that kind of money. Especially since im 18. ha
I will definitely look into the injectors and cats.

Thanks again

Injectors will be expensive, try reprograming the computer first and see what you can get with that.  I did the same thing with my k1500 and will be going with dual exhaust soon.  More air flow and the throttle body spacer will be the cheapest bolt on hp addition.  What size of engine do you have, heads?  There are plenty of power bolt ons for the 05 1500.

Thanks 67_D_C

its a 5.3. I plan on getting a computer programmer for it but i dont know what is best. I would like to get an in-dash. I have been looking at the bully dog triple gt gas in dash. Is this fairly decent? Any better programers?

gmfullsize.com is great! I had the same truck and programmer is the way to go! Ask on that site and there is a guy that does it

I have an 06 Tahoe LT with the 5.3 and towing package. I've been wondering about some upgrades as well. I have heard that a good first step is a cat back exhaust and a better air filter. I haven't started researching tuners/programmers yet.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

My truck has the same drivetrain as yours... So far I've installed a Diablosport Predator tune, Flowmaster exhaust, and an Airaid CAI. I'm not trying to make this thing a "performance" truck, by any means, I just want it to breath a little better...

I didn't notice any "performance" differences after installing the Predator, but I will say throttle response is MUCH better and the transmission shift points are excellent now.. No more slippage and lapse between gears.. I'd recommend this to anyone...

Go Hogs Go

It depends on if your wanting a increase in mileage, or if your going for big horsepower. The biggest bang for the buck I've seen for these trucks is cold air intakes, programmer, and exhaust. I work in a GM dealership and GMPP pushes intakes and exhaust like crazy.  :Twocents:

Throttle body spacers are not worth the money, if it was carbed it is.  As stated the best place to start would be a chip or flash.  Sometimes the chip requires 93 octane gas, but they can set it up to run 89.
