Who saw the superbowl Dodge Charger commercial?

Boy, tough crowd. :o I don't think anyone here hates the new "Charger" POS more than me and I kind of liked the commercial. I'm not sure where they got the V8 sound effects and it's sad that Dodge seems to be hanging its last hope on that pathetic excuse for a car but overall I thought the commercial was pretty creative. There were a whole lot of better commercials though. I loved all the Bud Light ads and that Betty White Snickers commercial just about had me squirting my drink out my nose.

On the other hand those stupid Denny's ads made me want to shut the TV off. And to that Audi "Green Police" ad didn't seem too far from reality. Basically it was just a metaphor for what's happening already.

NET RESULT:  Chargers become the official P-whipped car.  Anyone who drives one doesn't have any testicles, because they're kept in a box in their wife/girlfriends possession.  One step up from a girly car reputation...might as well be a Miata.  :smilielol:

good thing too, because the glove box has just enough room for 2 testicales :lmao:

:yesnod:  I agree.

I look at it this way, the guy's not whipped; he's just listing the things that keep him out of the doghouse if he does them, and in return he gets to drive a modern muscle car.  Not a bad trade.

And c'mon.....you guys know that you do half of those pussy whipped things anyway, don't tell us you don't. :icon_smile_big:

:pullinghair: Why the heck do they waste so much promoting that damn thing :slap:. I wish Dodge would spend more of their advertising efforts on the Challenger. This commercial reminds me of how much I appreciate my "Everybody knows that Real Chargers don't have 4 Doors" license plate frame.

:RantExplode: The only purpose a 4 door Charger serves is :patrol:.

TUFCAT

I hardly do any of that shit right now..... and I still drive a nice car. These guys need to grow some balls and just buy the damn thing!

Plus, I wouldn't lose my manhood for a new generation Charger anyway!  On the otherhand.... to own a muscle car era Charger, I probably would!  :yesnod:

I agree, i dont even think i have seen a commercial for the Challenger

Ghoste

I get what they are trying to say in their ad but once again it seems that Dodge just doesn't get the market that would buy that car based on the name.  The people who have the swagger to own a car worthy of being called Charger aren't likely to be the ones who enslave themselves to their spouse in order to be permitted to have one luxury in life of their choosing.  They might go out of their way for their spouse merely because thats how they feel for that person but not because of some "last stand".  They are targeting men in the ad quite obviously but I think that most of the men who are going to repsong to that kind of ad are the same metrosexuals who truly covet a nice BMW sedan or perhaps even a Lexus.  They may be tempted to buy a Charger based on the name and the image it evokes but the kind of people who created the image aren't fooled.   :Twocents:

Trust me, they don't even serve that purpose that well either!  The one we had in our department was out of service more than it was in service for electrical issues, 3 sets of brakes in 5000 miles, rotors, 2 broken motor mounts, the list goes on.  Needless to say we got rid if it within 8 mos and replaced it with a crown vic.  Also, there is a lack of room for a cage in those cars so in order to get a prisoner in there, you have to get a special cage which requires removal of the front pass seat.

No one banned the Super Bowl from the military. I watched it this year and many past years while in Iraq (I spend 6 of every 12 months here). AFN (American Forces Network) broadcasted it on AFN Sports channel both live, and 12 hours later. AFN however does not broadcast any real commercials, however they fill in the time with crappy "commercials" about what is going on in the military, washing your hands, sexual assault, voting rights, and anything you do not want to listen to. AFN does try to make most of the "commercials" funny, but fail, especially considering that that they play them over and over; some of the commercials I seen in 2004 are still playing! So if you are deployed and did not see the Super Bowl, you are in a location that for some reason does not get AFN.

The worst part is that many bases offered BEER!!!!! why is that bad you may ask. because of the rules surrounding it made it nearly imposable to get the 2 cans of beer. Most people work a 12 hour shift somewhere around 0600-1800 and 1800-0600, and the only time you could get a beer is when you are off duty, at noon or midnight AKA in the middle of your sleep session. With all of the security in place it made you feel like you were being watched like a criminal, all for two 3.5% beers.     :brickwall:

At least I kicked my Airman out of work so he could get his first legal beer.

Ghoste

That's good to know (the part about the Superbowl not being banned from the military that is), thanks for clearing that up.

G'day guys,

earlier today i read some of the posts here bagging the Superbowl Dodge Charger commercial. Well........I just got the chance to watch it.

LIGHTEN UP GUYS :icon_smile_big:. I think that's a great commercial. We get stuff all Mopar vehicles down here in Australia and would love to be able to even see commercials like that advertising a Chrysler product on TV.

Honestly, it was a funny commercial. :2thumbs:

I have to agree everyone seems so hung up on the "4 door" thing so it's not a real Charger at least there's still the Challenger  :Twocents:

There won't be for long if Chrysler doesn't get their act together.  In order for a company to stay in business, they need to make a profit which Chrysler has not been doing!

Honestly, why is Chrysler using the Charger as their flag ship? :shruggy:

I am guessing they are using it because they feel the Charger covers all the basis a family would need in a car. I just wish they would stop trying to label it as a Charger and stop attempting to give it a bad boy image it doesn't have. I know everyone is not a 100% with me but I think the Challenger fills a good hunk of the target market for a Modern Muscle Mopar. The problem is they waste so much time and money on the Charger and never do anything for the Challenger. Either advertise the damn Challenger or change the Charger. :Twocents:

I'm just waiting for Chevy to release that Corvette mini van, Now that's a real mans car ;).

The only good part of that commercial was the sweet 70's music at the end...... :coolgleamA:

Just curious, do they not advertise the Challenger much over there? (i'm outside the USA)
