Does anyone know how to reinstall a gauge needle that's fallen off?

The needle shaft is tapered and so is the hub of the needle, line the needle up correctly and just push it on.

If the gauge can't be fixed for whatever reason, I see that Herb's Parts now has the Rallye gauges for $79 each.  I don't know if anyone else has them or not or, for that matter, for a better price.  I didn't think I would ever see these repoped.  Now, if old Herb would just offer a Volt meter gauge to install in the hole for the Amp gauge.

Either I'm missing something or this gauge is beat. I can slide the needle on, but then it just flops. It's not secured by anything. By looking at my other gauges, it looks like there should be 2 arms for the needle to go over, and I can't get the second arm over from the left to meet the arm on the right. Frustrating.

It looks like Herbs offering is not OER, which is to not to say it is not a good working gauge. The lettering is slightly different OEM than Herb's offering, while the OER gauge looks OEM.

The arms that hold the needle move. You can get a little screwdriver on the teeth in the adjustment holes on the back of the gauge and push or pull them to adjust the gauge reading. My temp needle was flopping around and almost fell off too. I just had to spread the arms away from each other to capture the loop at the bottom of the needle. All that holds the needle is the tension between the arms.

You will have to get the arms closer together to fit the needle on, then spread them out again to lock it. Also the gauge will need calibration after this.

The gauge in the pics doesn't have a shaft, the needle is broken off.

drill the 2 rivets out so you can see what needs to happen inside. do you have a picture of the shaft and needle? you may be able to use a little spot of epoxy. a friend of mine rebuilds these gauges and does a beautiful job if you'd like to send it out to have repaired.
