I have tried to find a ralley mirror part number for the passenger side door of my 70 Charger to aid in my search for one under 50.00. Can anyone help? They are the same ones that fit Dart/Duster/Demon and kinda bullet shaped.  :scratchchin:

Nacho-RT74

yes, but just 70. Laters A bodies will fit too, but shape is sligthly diff.

PN I'm sure I can find, but won't be at home right now. I'm leaving home and will return late in the night

Thanks Nacho! Yup introduced for 70 so only correct 1 year for 2nd gen. then continues for "A" body. "E" body and 71 up Charger share the more angled base Racing style.

I found a 3586175 online and a 3548620 on ebay that looks like it may be correct (I don't care if it is chrome or paint but that would be 2 diff. #)? Thanks! Maybe the 70 Charger registry can help now that I think about it.

My 70 parts book shows the 3586175 number as being the chrome racing mirror but it doesn't specify a side and the other number doesn't appear in my copy but that number falls into the range where I do see some mirror gaskets??

yes, but no... what I meant is the A body is the same pedestal on 70 and laters but THE CUP ITSELF was changed by year 71 to A bodies, more rounded. The 70 is some sharpened on outer curves

Cup for E body is also the same shape than B and A bodies to 70, but then same also more rounded since 71

Anyway you can fit any later A body piece the same. Just experts will notice is not a 70 piece

Sorry, the On line scanned catalog I have access is not complete on line, and I can't find the right PN for it.

Thanks guys! Interesting about the detail on the side, now I have to dig out my driver-side one and check part number to see what vintage it is. Boy the learning never ends!

b5blue

Update: My passenger side mirror came in today......wow Nacho you were right what a difference in shape this one is much wider and kind of sleeker.

Remember - The number on the mirror is not the actual part number - it is a casting or engineering number. I'll scour my book to see what it says.

Yup - 3586175 -  Chrome - Left - For 1970 V,L,R,W - Right Side - 3586174

Primed - 3586655 - For 1970 V,L,R,W - Right Side - 3586176

Again - these numbers generally don't show up on the bottom of the base - those numbers are not usually part numbers.

See, now I have to go back and look at my 70 catalog again.  For whatever reason (late night pie-eyed?) I didn't see a left and right with that first number.  Just the one all by it's little old lonesome self.  I am not questioning you and I'm 100% positive it's there, I just didn't see a left and right for the chrome and now it's bugging me.  (I'm careless a lot like that but it still irks me)

I had to do a bunch of squinting but they are there. Instead of one line showing the number for one side and a "dash" and a single digit, the left side of the column has "RT" go a little further down (mine is on the next page) from the one you found.

Ah, thank you.  It's little wonder that an after school kid in some mega parts superstore can't find the parts.  We can't find them and we actually care about it, the only thing on his teen mind is copping a feel from the girl in 3rd period geography.

Oh man - you just made the choice tougher!  ;D

On a side note I have the chrome racing mirrors on my bird which I have yet to see on another 70 B-body anything.
wingless now, but still around.

b5blue

WELL....photos please!  (by the way, I have yet to find a drivers side mirror that matches my true 70 b body mirror after checking on ebay for weeks!)

FJ5WING

here are my part numbers for the chrome mirrors.
I wasnt clear on if youre looking for painted or chromed?

drivers side #3548617
right side # 3548620

b5blue

Hey! Thanks I have chrome on the drivers side and painted on pass. side  :eek2: can you post a photo of yours so I can see the shape? I'm going to scuff and paint drivers side if I can verify that L and R are slightly different shape. (I think we worked out they are as pass. side needs more angle)  :2thumbs:

FJ5WING

I found that the body of the mirrors have a different number than the bases. if anyone wants those numbers too let me know.

here are my mirrors side by side. notice the difference in the base angles as well as the difference in the elongated body of the right side mirror vs the shorter more round body on the left side. funny how I never noticed this before, I guess because they were always on the opposite sides of the car not sitting side by side. :shruggy:

Thanks a ton that is just what I have! (except my right is a painted one) Left side remains the same shape through the years (the cable is longer for A body I believe)  :2thumbs: The part numbers are screwy as the base only shows a series of casting numbers according to others. A pair of chrome is very rare, I read that only about 200 cars were built that way from the factory.  :scratchchin:
