So I am looking at diffrent motors right now and I think I am going to buy one from someone on the site. I wanted to know if anyone had experiance or advice on the issue. I am in no rush for time and it can take a month or two for all I care as long as it gets to me in one peice.

I think the motor will becoming from Ohio to Southern California.

Yellow Freight shipped a 727 transmission for me 2 years ago from Mohave valley AZ to Los Angeles CA.
Was the cheapest and easiest I could find, only thing is they only pick up and deliver at business addresses because they have big trucks.
I don't remember how much it cost but I do remember that it was very reasonable.

Found this too http://www.freightcenter.com/engine%20shipping.aspx?_kk=shipping%20a%20motor&_kt=0e196ad1-51ec-42d3-9460-7ab8bd4615de&gclid=CPLgiJG2y58CFQwpawodhEmJ0w

I got a quote of $700 or so for crating it and delivery residential to residential inside to inside. Still open for more suggestions.

I think I paid around $250 - $300 just for transporting the transmission, it was already in a crate.

That's a pretty decent price for that distance. Crating is a PITA, and loading without a forklift at a residence is also a PITA. $700 is about the price I had in my mind.
I've used UShip ( http://www.uship.com/ ) 3 times, and have been very pleased with the cost and service all three times. If you want the lowest possible price, you might bid the shipping out there. You can include the requirement to crate in your description too.
