Found a near perfect salvage 2008 Charger SRT8 on eBay.

It *should* be here later this week via a shipper on uShip.

Soooo, how would it be titled? 68 Charger, 09 Charger?

speedfreak68

I'm pretty sure he would need to get a builders title because it is neither a old or new charger..... I was thinking of building a 49 chevy body on a 97 cummins chassis. This is what the highway patrol told me anywho.....

RallyeMike

QuoteThe electrical only requires 3 relays and some cutting to get the setup to work with the mopar harness. A dakota, ram or concorde fuel pump will work and can be fitted into the tank. Corvette filters can be used with an walboro (sp) pump as well.

There is an adapter that lets you put a 727 behind a new hemi with the advantage of not having to cut anything but you do lose the overdrive. Using the 727 or a manual trans will require the PCM to be reflashed $250-$500.

The 6.1L hemi and the LX based engines have the accessories mounted low and the throttle body is on the front of the intake. This makes connecting AC a hassle but can be done. Alex (rollingthunder) may have some photos of his install.

6.1L hemi setups are around $7k-$9k.

I hope this helps. I can be reached at 310-218-2469 if you need more info.
John

Man, I never read this thread for various reasons.......

It's great to see hot-rodder ingenuity is still alive. Nice job on this. One less rotted 318 Charger in the world, because it became a road-burning Hemi-car!  The people who can't handle that?....  Narrow-minded buffoons.

I'd love to see some nuts and bolts detail photos on how you did this, especially focused on the problems areas and how some of the easier areas came together. Maybe you could start your own build thread documenting one of your next project cars? I'd rather read about it outside of a Rowdy yarn. Your work deserves it's own attention.

You should see the Delorean he put on a Bronco 4x4 frame. Flawless.

RallyeMike

The 4x4 crowd has its fun.... toss it together and beat the hell out of it. I can understand that  :2thumbs:  But I have doubts that the Gowdy mish-mash Charger will take the same path as Johns. Seeing how John intends to make a go at building these on a regular basis, I would be very interested to see nmore information on how its done without wading through this thread.

John's car was pretty sweet....        only downside was the HUGE amount of hours he put it on it...        Plus it would have been easier with a shop instead of the driveway.

That is the brutal truth my friend. But if you have time it is not really that hard and it costs less than trying to turn a rusty charger into a R/T clone. If you have a friend with a body shop and a lift it can be done in less than 200 hours. Once the metal work is done, all of the modern parts just bolt into place. Plus you get the joy of watching Porsche drivers panic on a winding road when all they see in both side mirrors is '68 Charger grill at 115mph.

Nah, more than likely the 2008 Bodyhull (with title), Interior, Rims and leftovers will be resold.

Heh, the sticker says it was a Department of Defense car ... photo or it never happened right?

BigBlackDodge

With those wheels it was most likely owned by a guy in the Air Force............and not owned by the DOD itself.

No, this sticker is required for all military personnel for their vehicles.  You are required to register your vehicle with the Post or Base you are at.  They give you this sticker, and it allows you to get on the post.  If you don't have the sticker, then you would have to stop every time you approached the gate, and get a temporary pass.  That would be a pain, so they give you this sticker that allows you to get on post.

Interesting fact though, if you are an officer, or higher ranking NCO, you get a rank sticker to put next to it.  If you are an officer the MP at the gate is to salute the vehicle as it passes through, even if the ranking member isn't in the vehicle.  So if the wife of an officer passes through the gate the MP has to salute the vehicle.

Hopefully we get plenty of new videos documenting the entire build... And a few drive-thru cruises..  :2thumbs:

ACUDANUT

Is it going to be titled a "Fiat Charger" ? :D

Memphis Mopar

When I was in the marines if the base id was a red sticker you were enlisted. If it was blue then you were of the officer rank.

SRT-68

If you keep the vin tag from the '69 you can title it a '69.  I had all three vins still in place om my '68-'07 graft and titled it as a '68 here in CA.  No smog and $71 a year for registration.

JoeyGowdy

Thanks for the info all... there goes the "MiB drive Blackedout Chargers" theory.

Yes, the plan is to keep title it as a 1969 classic model not the 2008 trash model.
