opinions welcome on my 70's dilemna

I have a beautiful #'s matching 500 fully restored in great cruise in/daliy driver condition. It's EB5 blue, black vinyl top with black interior, 383, A/T. It's been appraised at $40K and about what it books at. I fell in love in my youth with my buddy's black on black 70 383 with pistol grip 4 sp. That is still my goal. My dilemna is, should I make it into it or try and sell it and search for one? There's a guy in San Jose, Doug Thron, maybe you've seen his advertisements on eBay. Anyway, he says he can build one to specs, this is what he does. Anyone have opinions on going that route? maybe have him convert mine, or sell mine and have him build one, or just look for my dream car? If I pay him to upgrade mine it'd be costly and reduce resale due to molesting my original. About the only real way I think I should consider that route is if I'm 100% certain that I'll just keep it forever. Appreciate thoughts and opinions. Thanks

If the exterior color bothers you then you'll have to go search for a car in aspecific color, specific year ands specific drivetrain.....won't be easy to find and then we haven talked about the condtion of what you will come across.

I'd say keep your car if it is in the top condition you say. You know the car best and knows whats good about it and whats less about it.
Converting to 4 speed is'nt that difficult but you might loose the originality, but how much do you care about that.....

I will only sell a 100% good and restored car to fund new projects, because mostly unless you buy a top dollar car, you get dissapointed about cars that havent had a full resto. And you'll end up doing them all over again to be able to feel good about it.

Again, in your case I'll keep the car, convert it and maybe even repaint it to become what I really want. While doing that it's the ultimate moment to refresh the car and fix small issues to make it even better than it probably already was....
Greetings from Belgium, the beer country

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

here it is...got meats on the rear now which really toughened up the looks...I absolutely love the color and get plenty of compliments on it..but it's not black :-)

guess I could build my dream car in stages..first convert to a 4spd...the tough pill to swallow is that the blue paint job is new and the guy I bought it from said it was about $8,000...seems foolish to spend that much repainting it....maybe if I get rich....I just love the black on black so bad!

thanks, I figured I get great objective opinions here...sometimes when you're too close to it you make emotional decisions and not rationale...I definately don't have the time or patience to do a car the way the guy I bought this from did it up..took him 3 years and way too much money, which I benefited from...

Not to thread hijack an old thread but it's the only thing that came up under a search. Everything I've read about Doug Thron, Thron Charger Restorations, has been to stay away... Anyone have any first hand experience with him... Same deal as HLPAG ?
