I'm looking at hot rod black for my '70. Obviously it's not something you polish, any tips on caring for the finish? :scratchchin:

Well depends on what you want to do.
If you want it to look good for a long time you need to spray a satin clear over it.
Otherwise if it's just primer or primer + paint, then a garden hose and a hair dryer is your best bet  :icon_smile_tongue:

best idea for hot rod black  :Twocents:, use a black base coat , solvent or waterbase , then clear coat with a matting additive ,  experiment with a few spray outs to reach the desired affect in mattness :yesnod: ,   don't go by the MDS  for matting HS lacquer is always needs more additive to achieve the same finish as MS lacquer . if you doing it in a booth turn the temperature down , a little when spraying the matte clear &  just thump it on like  conventional lacquer .  :Twocents:
then just was it like normal paintwork :Twocents:
