Since my crank pully got bent in the crash of my 69 SE Charger i been looking for a new one, the ones i bought for my 1970 383 Magnum(ac) in it has been all been wrong. Now this guy has this pully from a 1972 440(not seen it in person) and he thinks its the same, is it?
Sure i been measuring  my banged up one but since its not round or right width at all i cant get 100% right. Is the a number to look for or do anyone have a picture of the right one?

Can you post a pic of the damaged piece????

On every picture i have(before restoring) you see everything but the pully. I have to get it(its in a shop) and take a photo of it...

I seem to recall that there is a slight difference in one hole from the forged to the cast crank but that you can just use a round file to enlongate one hole and it will line up.  440 Source website has some good info on the various pulleys too.

Yes the steel crank pulleys have one hole offset while the cast crank ones do not.

if the pulley in question is from a '72 block, more than likely its from a cast crank.

FWIW the steel crank pulleys have an "S" stamped in the mounting flange....

The hole offset isn't about cast/forged, it's about the year. All '72 and later pullies have a symmetric bolt pattern, '71 and earlier have one hole offset.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I thought all 72 440's had steel cranks.

They do but all '73 and later with cast cranks also have the symmetric pattern...it's about the year, not the crank.
