Whoever owns the car at the time would need to have their comp coverage in place.   The auction company is not responsible - unless you can prove they were negligent.  As mentioned, this is a one time freak deal.

I've read several reports about owners not having insurance on their car. I find that very hard to believe. You spend gobs of money fixing your car or buying it done and are to cheap to spend money on insurance :slap: :slap:

I'm sure R/S will be getting sued for negligence for not watching the weather reports and making appropriate plans.

If you are insured with one of the collector car companies, I am confident there will be absolutely no problems.    If you have "regular" car insurance, look out. 

Hagerty alone had 70 claims people on site.
