I have about a 6 in crack in my dash pad, is there a repair kit available for this?? or how about one of those dash caps, are they worth a crap, and what do you do glue em on?? any info appreciated.

I have one on my 73, it looks decent...better than a cracked up dash. If it is a driver a cap would be fine, but if you got a show car, I would suggest a new dash pad or send yours to just dashes. They glue on using clear silicone.
The problem with mine (I figured this out after installing) is, I had a large crack in the center of my dash and it did not bond well there. So when the car sits out in the sun, it bows up in the center. Now when it cools down in the evening or when its in the shop it will flatten back out and look fine, its only when its sitting out in the sun. My guess is the silicone oozed down into the crack, and it didnt bond there. If I ever install another, Im gonna try to fill in the cracks with some spray foam or something before glueing it on.

It comes with a tube/with the dash. Its just plain clear silicone, just like you get at any autoparts store.
Something like this.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pro-Seal-Clear-RTV-SILICONE-Adhesive-Sealant-1-4oz-40g_W0QQitemZ110431664502QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Automotive_Tools?hash=item19b63d7976

I installed a dash cap on My 73
Don't remember where I got it, Year one or jegs probably but it was guaranteed to never crack.
The first cold spell We had, it cracked.
It did look good and fit good but I think the old dash has to be perfectly smooth and the glue has to be spread very evenly to get it right.

OK Thanks for all the good info.

If any of the old dash is curling up chop it off before installing the cap.  :2thumbs: (I put one on a Datsun Pick up years ago.)

I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!
