Thanks guys, I thought you might enjoy it.  Funny thing is, the Daytona and Superbird are only 30 miles from each other.  There's another Mopar hoard that used to be south of here that moved to South Dakota and one more I have yet to see.

If you guys know of any other cars in barns that you want documented.  Let me know.

Ryan

bull

So is anything productive going to be done with these cars or are they destined to sit for another couple decades?

TheAutoArchaeologist

I hope so.  Some of them are drivable, just dirty.  But I don't know what he's going to do with all of them.

TheAutoArchaeologist

Sorry guys, I know you all hate when people dig up old posts.  But I thought you would like to know that I went back and visited my friend.... yeah... it's still there.

I also posted pics of a orange Bird years ago of an original owner pistol grip car sitting on its original tires in a womens garage in my small cow town.   I can try to locate the pics if there's an interest.  It was a high school gift to her and outside of mold setting in its almost in new condition. I think maybe 30k ish miles?  Anyway last summer I strolled by the house and took a peek in the garage window, over 40 years later its still there.   I offered to pull it out and clean it up and get it running, for free!  She just wants it to sit there. What a waste.  Point being there's still gems out there.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I always love seeing stuff like that.  Definitely send pics if possible.  And knowing it for that long, it's incredible.

I would be more than happy to take that 69 charger off his hands for him so he would have more garage room!!  :nana: :drool5:
1969 Charger 383/auto
1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)
1972 Chevelle SS clone 383 sbc
1959 Chevy Apache short bed stepside
1968 Charger (glorified parts car)
Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

More.  I've talked to her a few times.  Her grandfather told her to pick out a car for her high school graduation.  She thought this thing was cool.  Back 20 years ago when I saw it in clean running shape it had 14k.  I know It's not much more.  I posted this in the wing section a few years back.  The car was in her wedding.  That car will never leave her.  It'll just sit there and mold.

Wow that's crazy.  Looks like you could wash it off and take it for a drive almost.

I'd love to shoot it someday if I could ever get out to it.  Just FYI.

Going to Indy this weekend to find a wrecked 69 Daytona... should be interesting.

Yeah its sad and amazing.  The paint would look like new for sure.  The engine compartment is getting a little ugly.  The interior would also clean up like new.
I could never disclose its location due to the respect of the original owner but maybe this spring or summer I'll drop by and say hi and see whats going on with it?  The husband was very outgoing and friendly.   I'll update in a few months.

Believe this or not I have another friend that claims to have a Hemi bird sitting with 10k on it and another close friend that has a ac cobra sitting in his garage since the 70s.  I've actually sat in that car. There was a time he was fixing up the garage and this un restored ac cobra sat outside in the yard under a tarp and no one knew it.  Weird stories out there still.

I think I'd be willing to part with body parts to find, and acquire one of these barn find cars!

P.S.   only certain body parts would be offered!  :icon_smile_big:

I have alot of free time now.  Let me know if you can set something up... I can make them infamous... I mean famous!...lol  :nana:

The whole trip went very well.

And I would kill to get a wing car as well.  Even a rotted one!

Make them famous or you???

1969chargerrtse

That car is her life.  The fact they allowed me near it rather than point a shot gun at me is surprising.  I wouldn't sleep well at night if I told anyone where it was.  I live in the same small town and it took me years to find it.  Can't just say to the world,  here it is!
One day someone will own a jem as I don't think they have kids?

No problem sir, it doesn't hurt to ask.  All they can say is no.  I've found plenty of stuff and have plenty of leads to keep me going.

I'm already famous enough.  But thanks.

GOTWING

Man that reminds me of how my Vit C. one looked when we went to go see and purchase it in 4/2004. Flay dry rot tires and interior mold. 43k miles, owner bought it at "car village" around 1980, when I got it the tags were expired in 81. Unlike that one, we got ours running tagged it and re painted it.

See, there is a happy story every once and a while.

1969chargerrtse

I got a surprise today.  You know that Superbird I posted pictures about that's been sitting sideways in a garage in my town?  They finally pulled it out of there and sent it to a shop a couple towns over and got it running and polished.  Here's a picture from a friends phone.
She may actually sell it, may.  But it'll be out there I'm sure for top dollar.  Only 15k miles.  Many people are aware it's " out there ".  Good luck to them.

myk

If I were her, I would drive it every day.  I could imagine nothing more wealthy to do with that car...
