I just bought this old girl yesterday. I am the second owner :2thumbs:. I bought it off one of my teachers from grade school. The car has sat only two blocks from where I grew up before they moved to the country.  It shows just over 65,000 miles on her. They took real good care of it. I know its not a very desirable car but It has grown on me :yesnod:.  I always wanted to own a car as the same year as I was born, and it fits my user name ;D. Its a 78 Magnum born 12/77 and they bought it new at Stew Hanson Dodge in Des-Moines . She told me many stories about it and how her husband loved blue. It was his baby. Sadly he took his own life last year so she was anxious to see it go. My plans are put some rims on her and ditch the lean burn,  tint the windows and drive her. :yesnod:. What wheels should I go with?  Craigers or Keystones. Thanks-Rich

Congrats!   I've always liked the Magnums.  Yours is a cool old ride.  I'm surprised by how well it's held up in our Iowa winters.

Thanks  She said only the first couple years they owned it that it saw winters. The rest was garaged. She only drove it to school which was only like three blocks :yesnod:. The only thing they ever did to it was replace the grill after she hit a pheasant :icon_smile_blackeye:.

My high school ride.  Triple black, turbine wheels, and cheap raised whites.  It was TOUGH.

I can still see it smoking at the light (rear main leaked bad).

I'd go with old school Cragar S/S wheels for that era-correct look!

I would like to have a Magnum with T tops someday, but they don't exist down here.

Dunno really about all the Magnums packages option though

If you could find a nice set of Keystone Raiders, they look good on Magnum's too.

Here is a site you will enjoy then with your new car.

Thank you . They are 15x8 in front and 15x10 in rear. I believe the backs are 4 1/2 and fronts 4in off set. I'd have to look as I can't remember :-\. They are the same size I had on my former 71 and 73 Charger. I'm not doing much with the engine except I changed out the leanburn and will put black mopar valve covers on.

Thanks for the info on the wheels! Love the deep dished cragars! You planning on hopping up the engine at all?

Awesome! The engine bay really cleaned up without all the leanburn stuff on it! What mufflers are you planning on going with?

I'm running from manifold and want 2 1/2 with 6in glass packs and chrome tips. I'm going for the cackle sound :icon_smile_big:.

I love the cackle sound! My buddy has a set of glasspacks on his nova and every time he downshifts they make the sweetest sounds!!!
