2010 Charger Meet in Boerne, TX?

Never met Wayne and never had the chance to make a TDC meet (would have gone for the 1st time last year  :'(), but I will gladly help spread the word about any meets wherever they maybe...not sure we'd have anyone planning to drive to Seattle or Dover, but you never know, lol.

Like I've said, if anyone regionally is up for a Charger gtg or event I will gladly work towards making it happen in this area.  I will take any input and do the best I can to make it something people WANT to attend and will look forward to returning to.  Personally I am fine with just getting to see the Chargers, take some pics, and meet some people like myself.  If anyone is a bigger fan of judging or awards that can happen as well, just won't be $2 per person, lol.

Which speaking of that, I got my confirmation this morming that the group rate to the canyon will still be $2 per person  :icon_smile_big:

As mentioned by hemi68charger, the big thing to having any event anywhere is just having someone locally to put it all together.  I think I've been thru OKC once in my life so I am of no help.  That said if someone puts something together I will do my best to make sure everyone in this neck of the woods knows about it  :2thumbs:

:o

It is his legacy he created..... It cost money and time to do these things
it also takes people and resorces and if you dont use people to help things dont get done right . !!!!!!!!!!  dont get me wrong i like wayne but he needs to get help and not make promises he cant keep .

Stuart, buddy ole' pal......... Yes, it takes people to get things done, perfect examples that I know about down here are Wes P and Mike S. Without them and others they count on, nothing would happen. Strictly speaking from a Boerne point of view, I don't think he's ever promised there would always be a show here. I think because it was such a success for so long, there's a sense of ritual and expectation that it'll happen over and over again. People get disappointed when it doesn't happen, me included. It is his gig. But, with that being said, there's no reason someone, maybe me locally, can step up to the plate, do it ourselves and not wait on someone else to initiate a gathering.

wes i am the one that said that not todd or 69 ?  dont attack someone else for what i said /
i RESPECT YOU WES , but when i went to my first TDC meet you spent about the whole time defending wayne for all his quirks , yes its his deal and he can run it the way he wants ,b ut to me when you spend the whole evening of one meet defending his short coming I think he needs more help . Thats all i'm saying and no one else said it just me.
My back ground is i have been a charter member of my localmopar club of 400 members for 26 years joining when i was 16 .I have been the treasure for the last 16 years . I belong to 4 national mopar club and they are all very well run . I know wayne says his organisation is not a club but just a registy , well what ever you call it it needs help.  If i pay my dues I want the email and i expect a renewal form and so on , thats why its dieing.  If no get a renewal for it on one will renew .
Troy as far as my promises comment it has nothing to due with where meets are promised to be or not .  Its when i bring new members to a meet and we are promised gift and so on . I could care less about the gifts personally  but promises get you in trouble if you dont follow through.  Then i get berated by my friends i get to join because the gift are never given . I could care less about a sword but dont tell my friends and my 10 year old son who loves fantasy stuff your going to mail me a sword because you ran out . Then you leave me to explain to my 6 and  10 year old boys we arent getting a sword .  I have only been to 5 TDC meets so yes i am a short timer but that is a new persons prospective and why your member ship numbers are down.  Now I  supose i'm black listed or what ever but at the last meet i went to People where being accused of being traders or unwanted for not coming and thats just not the way I would run my organisation .   MY  :Twocents: :Twocents: :Twocents:

OK,, back to the original theme of the thread.

Yes, no Boerne, Texas Meet this year. I hope all that make the Nashville Meet will truly have a great time, unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. Second, maybe I'll throw the feelers out there to see what the response would be on a SouthEast Texas gathering..... There's plenty of lodging in these parts of the world. For me personally, Houston doesn't have to be the "place". It could be somewhere between Houston and Bryan-College or Dallas. Somewhere nice would be cool, like a park or county fairground.

Well, I guess I'll never learn!  I knew better than to even comment, but I was in a mood and just couldn't resist.  Damn PMS - guess I'm going to have to get some stronger drugs!

Anyway, Stuart, I should have removed some of that quote, I apologize for that.  I was not referring to your "not listen" comment at all when I responded, only to the cutesy-tootsey smiley face thingymabobs added by the other two gentlemen.  I inferred that this was their way of "dissing" TDC once again, as they have been doing for years, and that is why my response was directed specifically to them.  Obviously a screw-up on my part, sorry.

Regarding the issues raised in your latest post, first, if Wayne has promised you/yours something and not provided, then you are justified in not being happy with that.  I have no problem with that.  Let Wayne know, just like anyone should.  Regarding my "defense of Wayne" sermon, I think I know what event you are talking about (yes, I believe it is safe to say I can get carried away sometimes - guess more drugs and counselling is warranted!)  But what I was attempting to do was make people realize that things are not always what they appear, and that there may be another side to the stories vs. what they have heard from other individuals - obviously I missed the mark on that one too (my batting average seems pretty low - time to go into a different career).  Finally, we can debate and discuss how to do this/where to do that/when to do what for the rest of our lives, but in the end everyone will never agree on the "right" answer, and someone has to call the shots.  For TDC, Wayne has to decide.  I may not (and don't) always agree with his decisions, but so what - I'm just one person, with my own opinion or idea, and that doesn't make it "right" from anyone else's perspective.

Crap, I'm getting on that damn soap-box again - jeeez, here about 50 words ago I had learned my lesson, and now I've already reverted to the dark side - time to quit while I'm behind, and go eat some breakfast!

Have a good one, maybe see you somewhere this year.  And again, sorry for screwing things up to begin with.

"Bubba", you are my hero and inspiration...... I could only wish to have the logistical skills of putting on an event like you do in Boerne. Like you said, the way things happen will NEVER please everyone,,,, never. I've been doing mopar-related activities for 30 years now and it's a universal truth.

That's the most I've ever seen you type Wes..  :icon_smile_big:   <<< guilty as charged with my "cutesy-tootsey smiley face thingymabobs". Love that term.

Since the size of the great state of Texas practically dictates it to be it's own "region", it does creat logistics issues for out-of-staters.  It is afterall some 800 miles distance East to West.  (bragging just a little bit? ;))
I'd be up for a SE Texas event.

Unfortunately my 68 won't be up and running then, but I'd still show up to see some great cars and meet a few of you cats.

Bryan-College Station (Lake Somerville?), Bastrop, Waco, Hill Country, whatever...I'd be willing to drive 4 hours or so from Houston area to catch something like this.

Bill.

Hmmmmmm....Bubba....Don't think I've been called that before.  But I'll add it to the long and colorful list of what I've previously been called - I guess you could call that resume padding, but what the hell.

Anyway, nothing to spell out right now, hard to make a meaningful counter-argument against those cutesy-thingy symbols.  I just wanted to let you know that I'm likely to be inclined to respond, in the future, if comments/criticisms/etc are made that I don't feel are justified or correct.  As most people know, there are usually two (or more) sides to every story, and sometimes only one side of a story gets told or publicized.  In the past, I've generally just ignored such stuff (trying to take the proverbial High Road), but I'm older and crankier now, so patience and tolerance is at a critical low (either that, or I'm just exceptionally constipated right now - maybe that will "pass").

And, by the way, if those cutesy-wootsy thingybobs were NOT intended as a diss/jab/etc towards TDC, then double hell, I apologize profusely!!! That would be strike three (just on this one single thread!), and I'm OUT.

Go for it Troy.  I don't recall anyone passing any legislation (federal or state) that said only TDC could put on a Charger meet.  But good luck, I expect the suggestions on where/when/etc will be coming your way - speaking of which, in my opinion you need to.......  never mind, I've already struck out, and any feeble attempt at humor that I put in now will probably blow up in my face, so by.

How the hell would you know my feelings on the TDC over the years?  I have never spoken to you about anything, ever.  In fact, I have never spoken publicly my opinions about TDC.  So I am not sure what you think you know.

Well, hell, did I screw up again? (going for a new record I guess).  I thought you were the guy who was dissing TDC and Wayne, because Wayne wasn't even going to be at the Auburn meet that year/wasn't helping put on the event/etc etc etc (the event that you were helping C.M. put on).  Thought the dissing was taking place right here on this forum (but I wasn't on this forum at the time, I have to admit).  Was that not you??  If not, say so, and I will obviously apologize again.  Please let me know.  But if you have never publicly spoken your opinions about the TDC, why the smiliey-thingy-dingy, which I apparently DID interpret correctly?  Damn, I'm really confused now.  Please enlighten me.

Yes I did help C.M. the couple years TDC show was in Auburn. And there was a few things going on I, and several other people helping out did not like at all. As far as speaking publicly about my feelings on TDC, I remember a old thread where I said I did not want to air my feelings out publicly.  Who knows, maybe there was a sentence in there about Wayne not helping, but I have not been able to find it yet. But if I recall, that is as far as I went.  I also think there is a difference between a 300 word essay and a occasional smiley.  I did have a few members on here PM me a couple years ago and ask me what went on and I told them privately.  And I know, one of those people relayed what I said to Wayne. Within two days after I sent my private reply to the person, Wayne called C.M. bitching that I was bashing him and TDC.

Well, I guess I wasn't wrong concerning the person, there just may be some difference of interpretation/opinion/understanding of exactly what/how much/etc was said by whom etc etc.  You've stated what you remember taking place, and how about we leave it at that, because I certainly can't refute any of it from firsthand knowledge.  In any case, I apologize to the whole damn world at this point.

I've suggested to Troy that he start himself a new thread, if he wants to pursue the idea of putting on his own Charger event, so that this thread doesn't distract from or kill his efforts.

I'd also be quite happy to see this thread die completely, since with my help it has taken a less than positive tone.

Note that all of this is coming from Wes Pieper, not Wayne Wooten.  I have not spoken with Wayne for some time, about this thread or anything else, so please don't anybody go off telling someone that Wayne had anything to do with the comments that I have made here.  I'm sure Wayne will not be overjoyed with me for getting into this pissing contest, but I can live with that.

Todd Wilson

I guess its time for me to reply as well............for the record I want everyone to reread every message in this thread  and find the one where I was talking and "dissing" TDC and saying bad things about Wayne. There are none. I dont remember any other thread from years past where I just flat typed bad things........ Wes   the smilie   :o    was put on as my way of expressing surprise at Stu's message. Stay with me here and remember this as type on. This would be a good time to go get another beer as this post will be long.

Up until now I have never had any words with Wes about any of the TDC topics..........

We'll start in the beginning. 1998 I went to Boerne Texas to my first TDC meet. Was a great meet. Met a lot of good people. Had a lot of fun. The Boerne show is great. The town sq. and the surrounding hill country is excellent. I went back several more years. Had fun all the times I was there. My first show in less then 10 minutes of me being there I met several people 50 miles away from my house in Kansas. Until that moment I had been the lone Mopar/Charger guy in my area. The whole internet deal and Charger forum had really not been found or available just yet. We were still in the dark ages then. One of these new friends we'll refer to as RS  had been having small Charger get togethers in my area. In a y ear or so TDC/Wayne decided they needed a Kansas show. The TDC El Dorado Kansas show was born. The Boerne and El Dorado shows went on each year both with great success. Man what a great thing. 2 big shows a year with lots of fun all in the midwest area. Both drivable by lots of folks. Then TDC/Wayne decided he wanted a change in shows. As we have seen since the TDC shows have moved or changed from different areas. The Ardmore 2003 Show was born. I cant remember for sure but I think the Boerne show was gone that year. TDC/Wayne decided the El Dorado show was gone as well. I am unsure if Wes knows it or not but many many people were upset with this. At least the El Dorado show. Thats when RS decided to continue to run the EL Dorado show on its own and thats when Charger Fever  http://www.chargerfever.com    come around.  In previous years I had helped behind the scenes with the El Dorado show. Now I was going to help a lot more with the Charger Fever end of things.

From the moment this all happened RS and I was blacklisted in someway. I was online here so I received a lot of it.  From the Ardmore 2003 show on I have been the whipping post for ANYTHING said on the internet that could be less then good about TDC. I have had people in my face at the Ardmore show telling me how bad it was to go against waynes word and continue to run El Dorado.
At the time I was trying to be as friendly and calm as possible with the people as I felt I was a representative of the ELD show and web site. If it would happen today I would be busting someone in their mouth over it. Thats how rude and shitty these people were with me.
I have had nasty emails and PM's from various people. I have had several phone calls from Wayne that were less then freindly. All since 2003. And now in the last few days I have gotton what I felt like a threatening message from Wes on this thread. It is funny I sent Stu a message saying that I would feel the pain from his post in this thread and sure enough it happened once again. My buddy RS has also gotton calls about me! I have made online comments over the years that were directed to some of those people that others took the wrong way.

As for the TDC organization.............I joined. Thought this is cool. Great t shirts. Great art work. Joined the following year. Got a crappy newsletter I couldnt read and what I could read couldnt understand. Did the whole pitch to people to join. Defended Wayne as he is a busy guy. Telling people you'll get your shirt or what ever. I began not to get things promised with dues paid. Had people I felt like I had something to do with joining TDC tell me that they werent gonna renew as they hadnt got shirts and so forth. I decided not to renew as I was not getting what I thought I was suposed to get by joining the club. That was the end of that. So theres my TDC bashing for this thread.

So with all that said I'll end this message with another tidbit of info that some know but most dont know. Mostly due to drama and BS thats been ongoing for  7 years now I am no longer involved with Charger Fever. What started out as a great thing in 1998 has ended with a very sour taste in my mouth. But thats ok I have owned my 71 Charger since 1987. We've been the lone wolf before and we can do it again. Frankie is still alive and well and we always have fun where ever we go.

No need to call RS and complain about my online message because I am no longer part of CF.

Man, apparently I am out of the loop on all of this stuff, lol.  All I was wondering is if Boerne was coming back (as I would finally be able to go...and was sad that my 1st year with potential to make it got nulled out by the fact it was cancelled (2k9)).

I'm sad there isn't a Boerne meet because as stated I was looking forward to it and we have family in the Hill Country.  I was going to see if maybe any reunions could be pushed up to accommodate the event  ;D

I never intended to start some giant debate on people and topics I don't know and really don't know that much about.

If there is anything to take its place I will try and make it...Similarly I always try and promote any Mopar event I know of that is going down, especially if I know we have members who would be interested and willing to travel.

That said if anyone is interested in having a Charger Meet in Amarillo I can and will make that happen.  I suppose I should start a new thread on that subject and judge feedback as opposed to trying to do it in this one.

Keep me posted on any replacement events and I will get word out on those...I've seen pics and the video of the Chargers cruising to Luckenbach and thought it was pretty cool!

It is sad Boerne isnt around. Its a great place to have a meet. Maybe someday it will be back around.
