Is it just me or are women getting bigger?

What's the deal with big women lately? I don't mean fat, I mean big. In the past 5-6 years it seems like I've seen more and more young women over six feet tall and 180 lbs. Just today I went to two stores and 3 of the 4 women that helped me were as tall or taller than me and as heavy or damn-near (I'm almost 6'1" and 207 lbs). I never noticed this until recently. Last year I noticed at least three young teachers (20-30 years old) in my kids's school are easliy 6 feet tall and 160 lbs or more. Is it the American diet? It doesn't seem like men are getting this much larger on average. Am I seeing things?

Probably better nutrition. My daughter will be close to 6-ft when she is fully grown. I'm 6'-1" and my wife is 5'-10". I'm hoping for her either a beach volleyball career or LPGA....

I heard something on the radio a while back that over the past 20 years, the size of women's feet have gotten bigger. But they weren't sure what the reason was for it.

All I do know, is women and even teen girls, have a lot bigger boobs then they used to when I was in my late teens and early 20's. Almost like their cup size is a average of a big "C" cup if not a "D" cup. It's getting hard to judge their age cause of the bigger boobs on the younger girls. I have seen a few 15 & 16 teen year old girls that look 20 something all day long. And these are girls that work at the local gas station here.

That's been my belief for as long as I've read up on that stuff (hormones in the food/water supply [scary reading!]).

My fiance' is 6', and her younger sister is 6' 5" (3" taller than me!).

As for Pete's boob comment, he's dead on. 

I worked as a bouncer at an all ages club, and one of the girls had d@mn near double-d's @ 14! 

It was a pain, 'cause we constantly had to keep over 18 jocko-homo types off of her, 'cause they'd have no idea what her age was (or worse, didn't care).

Girls weren't built like that when I was growing up.

There's a lot more people in the world now.   the more people you see, the more likely chance you will run into a 6 footer with big meaty cans.  They have always been out there, there's just more of 'em now.

When I go down south I notice that women are generally bigger than women up north as far as weight. There is just a culture of food in the south that you don't see up north. Down south people love to eat and you see these rib shacks and mom and pop restaraunts everywhere.

Honestly, I really don't believe that either. I just think it is something to put the blame on. I don't eat out much at all (if I do, it's usually Subway), and eat reasonably healthy at home, and I still can't loose weight. But then again, Doctors have found that I have a very slow metabolism, and have metabolic syndrome. Those alone make it 3 times harder then the average person to loose weight. But I mean come on, Fast food has been around since the 1940's at least, and back then, there wasn't many over weight people. Look at all the fast food places in Europe, or the Asian counties, or Australia, and they don't have many, if any over weight people. I think it is all the crap that they put in our foods to preserve them or the pesticides, that is killing our body's ability to destroy fat. After all, we are eating chemicals.

I agree that  people are getting "fatter" on the junk.  But the height, breast size, foot size and reproductive capacity?  Something's up.

Our (American) nutrition has not increased that much since the post WWII spike, which is where average height  started to move up rapidly (and is linked to better nutrition and access to food).  The post WWII increase in height was also part of relaxed social mores.  Pre-WWII you married inside your nationality, period.  Post-WWII this was not so much the case.   The  northern european height began to mix into the gene pool.

So I agree with the theories that we're probably being feminized (to a little tiny degree) by every plastic product that we ever come in contact with.  It wouldn't be anything obviously big enough to test for, but rather just "death by a thousand cuts".  This includes when our food & drink substances get run through plastic pipes & containers, etc.  

Look at the evidence.  They say the sperm counts have been plummeting among men in developed countries in the last century.  We hear researchers saying stuff about girls puberty coming earlier but they rarely have the same comments about boys.  Depression is becoming more and more rampant. Women's breast sizes going up (without always even a correlation to increased weight).  Etc.

Back in college there was this girl on the gymnastics team and she had a breast reduction done in order to improve here gymnastics abilities.  We tried very hard to talk her out of it but she had it done anyways.  It was a sad day for the rest of us guy who knew her from that point on.

Now pre-natal care helps the baby develope healthier in the womb. My son is 6'4" from 5'6" and 5'8" parents...there are 6' ancestors on either side though. The getting larger width wise is too many instant foods, no movement/barely budge from the TV while snacking after the fast dinner. Most people I know eat out of packages...the side dishes etc are full of salts and chemicals. When my mom came to live here she lost 60 lbs in one year without dieting...her doctor asked her what she was doing...eat whole prepared foods. NOT Tofu, I love real food...just cooking from scratch...only butter, olive oil etc. NO packaged foods! Keeps you healthy. But we do have an obesity problem in the US...too much snacking on garbage foods.

I was thinking about the improved prenatal care having much to do with it this mourning. I can remember back in the 80's I started seeing allot more 8lbs. plus baby's. But it seemed years before, 6 to 7 pound baby's were the norm. Allthough people at the poverty level still seemed to be having smaller newborns.
