I've seen one once before. In the Kansas City Missouri area. I won't say where though. Lets just call it Mutual Respect. or another way is "I'll get my butt whooped if it ever gets out"

Its cool to see a pic of just the head though.

How the heck do you hook up 8 intakes per side....and even more concerting is does Larry where pink finger nail polish?  :o  cuz it's in the photos!

Ghoste

How much do you think it would cost to try and duplicate one of those things in order to create a pair?

I noticed that auction around 2 or 3 days ago, but wasn't able to figure out the application...

It was an application that was never actually used.  It was Chryslers response to Ford's attempt to use the 427 SOHC in NASCAR but when Bill France shot that idea down, Ma Mopar stuck with the regular Hemi.

That's why I was wandering what the cost would be Doug.  Larry implies that another head could be easily duplicated.  He may be right but for howuch money?  And then you have to get the cams and drive.  It could be done but I think the price would be far out of reach of all but the very deepest of pocket enthusiasts.
It sure would be amazing to see it happen.

Rite, mopar built that block to show it off but it was never actually a running motor. It was a test bed for valve trains. The guys at Ford and NASCAR were not aware of that tho.

John M. has not made a secret of his A925 Hemi... it has been in at least one magazine article, and he used to wear a T-Shirt with it on it to shows... so relax, no whooping required... it has been "out" for over 25 years.

I'd still like to see how they engineered the cam drive system and the intake layout (I looked around on the web but there's not much)

Somebody should recast them....along with all the other stuff....

Back in mid 90s there was a company developing 32 valve Hemi heads that used a special dual rocker arrangement with the stock pushrod/lifter arrangement. It would have been a bolt on deal for a regular 426 block. I don't think they ever built anything other than the initial prototype, but they were pricey. I want to say they wanted around $15k just for the heads.

You mean Newman's Racing Components. Marty Covalt designed these heads. They built one pair. Look at the pics, that is an old article of the Mopar Action.

Amazing head.  But for the money that it would take to make one of those things fire up again today, you could build plenty of stupid-high power in a more conventional package.

That's them. Guess I was off on the price a bit, but even at $9000, that is a pretty stout price tag.

Probably because they were so expensive, nobody wanted to pony up for them. Remember this was back when you could get a completely built 426 from carb to pan for under $10k. So to dump another $10k on top of it was kinda of crazy. Since unlimited type class racing was just getting started, there wasn't much demand for something that far outside of what NHRA and IHRA would allow, so they quietly died.
