My coolant recovery bottle is missing from my 73 Charger, can anyone furnish a pic of where it goes when installed?
Currently bidding on one on Ebay, I know I will need one to run at the track, mine had the overflow hose just draining under the car and not going to a bottle. Application is a smallblock if it matters.

TIA

Perhaps the 73 did not come with one?

Some came equipt with a pressure relief cap, that flowed into a recovery tank.  Others didn't and had a standard type cap.
Mine didn't, so I just bought one from Summit. They have alot of differant types and styles.
Part no.  SUM-G3476  Price  $14.50
I used to have a handle on life....but it broke off.

Assuming I had just the standard cap, where did the coolant recovery bottle go on those that had them? Is it safe to assume next to the radiator in the direction the overflow nipple is pointing? As I said I will need to add one for track use, and will try and get an origional one before I resort to an aftermarket one.

I looked thru my manual and didn't find the location.   It did show a drawing of how it works.   Year One has them and the mounting hardware, ect.
The bottle   part no. is BH184 @ $89.00.   The mount part no. is BH200 @ $89.00.   You would also need the cap @ around $8-9 bucks, plus hoses.   They have a whole kit for around $400.   Seems a bit pricy for this stuff, if ya ask me.
Here's a pic of the bottle

I can't believe it took me this long to see this thread

I'll see if I can go snap some pics tonight...

My car is an original small block car as well... not sure if there is a difference

RD

I do not believe there was a difference between the small block and big block radiator overflow tanks, nacho may know the answer to this one.  I know my BB 73 radiator overflow tank does not look like the one in the picture.  I can take pics tomorrow if you like?

Yes Pics please.
I dont intend to spend alot, if I win the Ebay auction fine, if not I will junkyard a bit more, and if that don't pan out I will just get a summit or jegs catch can. Would like to try and keep the look old and origional if I can help it. I am in no rush for the pics as it will be awhile til I start assembly.

Here is what I am bidding on

Thanks in Advance

Thanks just what I needed to see! Mine did not have the bottle,  makes sense where it is located.
My car is all apart, I forgot just how big the radiator is (thats in the shop waiting on the ok for being made into a 4 row).

Cheers

Let me know if you do not win the ebay one. I am pretty sure I have one from a 73. I can check when I get home.

as stated, 73 and 74 are the same no matter block... 71/72 didn't come with recovery water bottle. they had on its place the windshield washer bottle.

the reservoir posted by Crazy, as far I know is the E bodies kind.

Beer the one you are bidding is the right and the only one kind.

Mr_fixit

nacho....Some 72's did have their own revervoir bottle, located next to the radiator, on the battery side of the car.  And I've seen the parts book set up for a 71 revervoir, which was supposed to be an option,   but I have never seen one on a 71.

Mine is black and round but sits in the same place, sorry my digital camera is broken.
