Hello,
want to introduce myself to you. I'm 23 and from Germany living 30km south of Berlin. My first experiences with cars were with some VW´s. First a Polo 86c Coupe(summer 2004 - Xmas 2005) with an 1,0L 45hp engine and one year later converted to an 1,3L engine with 2 40 Weber carburetor's, polo g40 suspension and brakes. In the same time I parted 2 more Polo's out and having a 4th one for the winter(salty streets). After that there was a VW Corrado G60(Xmas 2005-summer2007) converted to a Turbo and then a Passat 35i station wagon(summer 2007-Jan08) because of the beginning(Sept 2007) of my mechanical works study.
In November 2007 I purchased my Charger R/T from a guy here in Germany as a rolling project. He bought the car in may 2007 and lost interest in the car. The last owner lived in Rochester,MI and the car was built at Hamtramck. After I bought the car I collect missing or broken parts and general information on Mopars and Chargers. After decoding the fender tag my decision was to disassemble the car and rebuilt it like the fender tag states and it comes from the factory. But the original engine and trans aren't in the car and therefore I'm thinking about to convert it to 4-speed and maybe a Hemi if i could find date correct units. The second year of owning the car I spent with building a new home for the car in spare time from my study.
Where i can find good pictures of parts that shows how the parts were in 68 when the car rolls out of the assembly plant? I found Musclecarpilot(Dave) at cardomain with a 68 Charger. Same for factory marks and stampings. Are there any reproduction stamps on the market?
Parts catalog and manual are in the garage with some other books.

If that's your fender tag in your avatar it appears to be a black R/T with a black top, white interior, and a red stripe? It also has redline tires, tinted windows (non-A/C), and a console. It's pretty rare and I'd leave exactly as it was - especially if you're looking to reproduce the markings and such. The Hemi could be installed without any major modifications but you'll have to cut the floor and do some welding to add a 4-speed and I think that would be a shame.

I onlywant to add options that are available in 68 like rear defog, maybe power windows, 8 track, front disc brakes, sure grip and a 4-speed with a dana60 and maybe a hemi if I find date correct ones.
are there any reproduction parst of the grill edges that goes between the bumper and the fender?

That's a pretty sweet combo you got there.  I would restore it to the fender tag.  But at the end of the day - it's your car.

It does not phase us.    We like to see the cars from their restoration start to the end...then there is more to discuss.  The bottom line for us Charger junkies, baring seeing the car in person, is we like to look at pictures!

Welcome newbie!  If you could see what a mess my 70 Chargers paint job is you would laugh!  We like photos no matter what and one day you will want them for the memory's of where you started. You will like the durability and savings a 440 will give you....you will still have PLENTY of power!

The GL style wheels are sold and I have a set of magnum 500 in 14" and a set of
7 and 8 x15" steel wheels with the small hubcaps that fits 14/15 inch wheels.
Not the dishes shown in pic2, the standard R/T hubcaps in 68.

If you spend dome time here, you'll find out there quite some members here from across Europe. I'm among the few Belgian Charger owners here....

Share as many pictures with us as you get along with your project, and don't forget that it's your car and you will be driving it so build it the way you want......
My 69 R/T was originally white with red interior and red stripe, but since also my #'s matching engine is missing I'll be also converting to a 4 speed behind a big stroker and i'll change the white ext for black without the vinyl top......so it's all about what you like.

That's a beautiful color on your Charger, i would leave it as it is. The majority of the people will not know if it is a factory color or not unless you tell them.

You've come to the best Charger site in the world! Kudos to Troy for building this site. You have a rare car there and much can be said about restoring it to its original splendor. Like several of our brethren here have said, its your car so build it for yourself. These cars are becoming difficult to find so when you begin working on it do everything the correct way the first time. It might take a little longer and stretch your budget but you'll be happier with the end results. Good luck.

My 1970 `Cuda 440-6 spent three years in Germany when  owned by a member of the US Army in the early 1970s.
