Arrgggh, ain't winter grand.

Well, I have been trying to find my car keys since yesterday. All my access was on the ring, both cars, key-less fob, house, and the most important work ID fob. Wife had them when she picked me and the kids up from skiing at the mountain yesterday but when I needed to move the cars while snow-blowing the driveway this morning (which I didn't finish) I couldn't find them. Fortunately I recalled where we put the spare "for safe keeping" (you know, when you put them where you will not loose them?!  ) as I was frantically searching just after a Fire dept. tone and was able to make the call.

Well, when I got home from the call we had accumulated another 3 inches. So fired up the blower again to finish and started clearing. Well you probably guessed it by now, I found them.. Or should I say the snow-blower did. All I found was one key to a footlocker (boy that was useful eh?), and the Fob for work. I didn't hear/see them go through the blower as I have a gravel driveway and rocks are constantly pinging through the impeller. But on what I assume was  the next pass I found the work Fob on the ground. After an hour or so searching in the yard with a shovel I just gave up. Ill find them in March.

It's nice that I found the office Fob as that avoids the mound of paperwork to replace that stupid thing but it sucks that we are short on vehicle keys. The keys must have fell out of my wife's pocket when she was unloading the kids and the groceries.

The bummer is last evening when I took the dogs out I heard the car beep for the lock action on the Key-less Fob. Well its obvious now that the dog stepped on the keys. I should have checked it out when that happened because I KNEW it was weird but figured someone hit it doing something in the house. It was late, cold, I was tired, the excuses vary but I didn't. My bad.

  Ugh!!! That makes me feel better for running over the cover for my garage door opener (keypad) with my blower... That sucks, man... Now you probably won't find them until Spring when things thaw out...

Frustrating for you, but funny to read about. Winter can indeed be    in many ways. Have you considered renting or borrowing a metal detector to locate the remains?

Yep, It will be interesting to see what I find in the March thaw.

I can't quite decide if I should just go buy new stuff now or wait until the thaw and see if I find them in 1 piece and working order. Going to be interesting to see what it costs to get the key and key-less Fob from the dealer.

Yep. We will ask around later when I get over the frustration. Funny thing is that one of the things on my daughter's x-mas list was a metal detector! We got her the "other" present. Stupid us. 

Its back on the list for her Birthday next month now.

I think the manual in most of those say you should put it through a month of pre-in-service testing. 
Go get it now!

That sucks but in the long run you will find them.  What snowy state are you in?
 
Yesterday as we were all heading out to load up into the Honda Pilot I realized I locked the only set of keys in it while it was running. Everyone had to head back into the house until AAA arrived. The guy wedged a plastic wedge in the top corner of the door and it bent outward like it was plastic. He dropped in a long rod and POP the door was open in about 15 seconds.

It's 18* here in CT with up to 50mph winds. We want to move south in about 4 years so I checked the USA weather map and it's 18 in GEORGIA!!  WTF?   Oh, I called Honda.  They only want 70.00 for a new key and then I have to make an appointment to drive down there and pay another 100.00 to get it programed.     No Honda comments please, the car has been awesome.

Sorry to hear that....been there done that. I lost 25 keys in my drive years ago. The only thing that found them was the truck tires over and over till it all melted. Too bad your not close to me (Topeka Kansas) I just got ANOTHER metal detector for Christmas. Now I have two. After the Charger is done I will get the top of the line E-Trac - $1400

We are just a bit north of you in NH, along the VT/NH border in the Dartmouth area. At present I don't mind the winter weather. Will that change as I get older? Who knows. I lived in VA for 5 yrs, met my wife there, and we didn't care for it at all so north we went. We both grew up in New England so we don't really care for the heat.

Most "locks" are just enough to keep honest folks honest. In the Fire Dept. we have learned lots of ways to enter buildings with the minimum of effort and damage.

I wish. Its all up in the Burlington VT area. We got maybe 5-6 inches.
