Fan Motor "Skip" on my '69

Hey all! I have a '69 with A/C and my fan motor is developing an occasional "Skip."

The motor blows well and the low/med/high settings work as they should. What is happening is that it sounds like it skips----a low rub/scrape from inside the fan motor for a split second. If the music is on you really don't hear it but I'm one of those crazies that likes the silence so I can hear my motor. When I turn the fan motor off the noise goes away completely.

So.....
If my fan going to fail?
Is this a lubrication issue? Any way to lube it without taking it out of the car?
If I have to remove the fan, is there a way to take it out without removing the heater box? (I replaced the heater/AC core last year and it was a REAL pain)
Should I just relax, grab a beer and drive it?

Oh, watched a bit of DMCL today. That was my first intro to the '69 when I was a kid. My wife hates it.

Could be that there is a bit of rust on your hamster wheel (blower fan) or it might be slightly bent causing it to scrape occasionally.

on 3rd gens is really easy remove the blower from engine bay... just release the 3 nuts, cooling air line and wires and extract it centered of the hole to not stuck the fan.

now about the "skip" noise... dunno what exactly means that, but if is what I thinks, is mostly sure needing a bushing replacement maybe ???
