The original Max Wedge bellhousings were cast steel, not stamped steel; they will have the word "STEEL" in raised letters. These were two-piece with a cast steel lower cover.

The regular V8 bellhousings were cast iron with a stamped steel cover.

Since the original Max Wedge/Hemi bellhousings are no longer legal for racing they're strictly for restoration, I've seen them sell for over $500+.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

For 1964 it is 2406043 and the casting number is 2406042.  The cover should be part number 2406045 and the casting number 2406044.  According to my info anyway.
