yeah would make it easier !  if your lifting it out from the top !  ,  could leave it in place  , if your dropping the whole lot including the K frame from the bottom  :yesnod:  :popcrn:

Rich,
I would unbolt them,,,,so they can lay in the engine bay with the motor in place,,,,It might be hard to "remove" them with the motor all bolted in,,,,
Once you start removing the engine,,,,the headers will be easy to remove,,,or will "fall" out from underneath,,,or you can simploy lift them out,,,,,as you get more clearance as the motor is being removed around.....

Might want to put some blankets,,,etc,,,,in the engine bay,,,on the fenders,,etc,,to avoid banging into things,,,etc.

Done this several times,,, :brickwall:

good luck,

Doug

Thanks for the advice Doug!    I'm hoping to only have to do this once.........at least for a while!  ;)

And if something is going back into that engine bay shortly, make sure you leave those headers laying in there.  Don't laugh, I know more than a couple of people (myself included) who pulled an engine and then for whatever reason took the headers out and dropped in the new engine only to realize that now you have to jack the engine up and curse like a sailor to get the headers back in.  ;)

Please excuse my interruption, but You raised a question in my mind.
When dropping the engine back into the engine bay, can you have the headers fully attached?

Ghoste

Not if you are dropping the engine from above.
