So who else here is sick for the holiday season?

For the past week, I have been feeling run down and just plain out exhausted.  On Tuesday, when I was at work, I could cook an egg on my head, yet had full body chills, and was coughing like crazy. Not to mention that I was getting sick over night at various times and getting light headed and dizzy.  I ended up going to the dr's on Wed only to find out that I got the flu!  Pretty much spent all of Wed and Thurs in bed only to get up to go to the dr's on Wed and to open up presents with my daughter on Thrus morning since I had to work Christmas Day, dayshift.  At least my wife was nice enough to think ahead and make it possible so I could be home to see our daughter open up her Christmas presents.  So here I am at work today feeling all crappy and all only because I know I would get in trouble with the department administration if I called in sick on Christmas Day.

Hopefully the rest of everyone on the board is feeling well and their families are safe and healthy on this Christmas Day!

Yeah man, there's a lot of that going around.. I've been walking around saying that I "haven't had a cold for almost a full year", basically laughing at those (at my work) that did.. Until this week. I woke up congested, sore throat, feeling like crap... Luckily it was gone the next day..

But, all of the running around in preparation of the Holidays can really run you ragged...  Don't worry, this too will pass... Sorry you had to work today. Try to have a good day

Thanks and yes it sucks to work on a holiday but the only benefit is that administration is not around and the call volume is generally less than a regular day shift.  Although with the holidays comes the added calls of domestic violence. :scratchchin:

I been on a downhill slide all week myself. I didnt even get up out of bed yesterday and today I am up and then back to bed. Missed my parts store christmas party yesterday and then last evenings dinner and present opening at the wifes folks house. Got several friends in town this weekend that want to get together. Some I havent seen in 15 years and I dont even feell well enough to get dressed and watch tv. Not to mention the weather is shitty  outside. At least we missed the heavy snow. One thing  I didnt need to be out battling with this cold or what ever I got.

Todd - Home sick this christmas too!       :-\

Does being homesick count? :scratchchin:

Not physically battling anything, but I haven't been back in Alaska for Christmas since 2000.  :'(

Doesn't help that the fiance' and I are not together this year either. :pity:

Oh well, Capt. Morgan and I are watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy (Christmas tradition). :2thumbs:

Watched the original three Star Wars movies yesterday (another Christmas tradition). :yesnod:

Merry Christmas everyone!

Brian I'm feeling for you bro. Its tough working the holidays and if you're ill its that much worse. I worked all shifts and every holiday for 22 years, sick or not, so I can really empathise with you. Best bet is to stay as warm as you can, eat lots of chicken noodle soup (it work's don't know why), don't let the DV calls and the 5150's get you down and most importantly watch your "six" and get home safe when you go 10-7.

PS Thanks for being out there doing the job.

Not physically battling anything either but I'm sick of the holiday season... I don't know what posses everybody to get all those lights up and stuff it looks like a carnival out there and I'm not a big fan of carnivals. I never cared much for the holidays while Christmas could be ok new year's eve is the worst eve of the year. Oh yeah and the worst thing about Christmas here in Poland is that all the restaurants are closed, so where am I going to eat?! I spend 1 1/2 hours today searching for a restaurant and ended up in a bar eating something that they told me was food. And new year's eve is the worst night because you pay quadruple of what you normally pay (I'm still Dutch so figure out why that bothers me) and it's overcrowded to the point that you can't even move anymore.

Still I can understand why you wouldn't want to be sick (but I guess that goes for any time of the year), so I hope you get better soon.

My brother was sick around T-day, we spent some time together later in the weekend, i got sick (flu) the next week-3 days out of work, I NEVER call out sick from work (use it for car show season) it was terrible, achy, tired, head stuffed up, then it drained and I have been coughing and spittin up flem for 2 weeks, someone told me 1 more week and it should be over- Thank God!

Hope everyone gets well soon. I am lucky and didn't catch the flu this year. Last year I got the shot and then got sick. This year I opted out. I went back to work a couple weeks ago and my foot still hurks like @#$%. After blowing snow this morning for a couple hours and cooking most of Christmas dinner I am about shot. Hope I can get in the garage to work on the car but after I remove the huge snow drift out back to move my other car out to work inside my foot probably wouldn't let me  :P

Ive had a pesky cough since thanksgiving weekend..but I could live with it. Then just when it was going away the wife got sick and, inevitably, now I'm in full blown cold/flu mode. :icon_smile_angry:

Easier to ask who isn't sick. I've had a cough for months and my joints ache.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
