i found some more rust on the runner  :'( so i had to take the whole front clip off  :brickwall: .

anyway the original color of the runner is B5 True Blue Metallic i figured since the interior is out and the front end is off maybe now is the time to take it back to its original color .

here are my questions

#1  what brand of paint is good ? is this good ? http://www.paintforcars.com/kits_starfire_metblue.html

#2 how much paint should it take to do a car ? the whole car inside and out .

#3 what kind of paint base clear , Acrylic Enamel Paint or Acrylic Urethane

#4 i want to paint the car myself , i have never painted before . am i nuts ?

#5 how much should one pay for the primer and paint ? we have a paint suplier here in cranberry but i think their prices are a little steap .

I'm painting my car with PPG DCC Concept Acrylic Urethane single stage paint. Its about $400.00 a gallon. To do the whole car inside, outside and underside I bought 3 gallons of paint. I have used 1 gallon so far on the underside, engine bay, trunk and inside. I'm planing on 4 coats of paint for the outside and sanding with 1000,1500,2000.

I haven't tried that paint, but I haven't heard many good things about it. If budget is an issue, every brand of paint has a cheaper line. PPG had Omni, BASF has Limco, DuPont has Nason (which is what I use) The only thing with cheeper lines, the color match may not be exact, but with an over all paint job shouldn't be a problem. Also some lower lines might not cover as well, but with the Nason I've been using Sassy Grass Green over buff color primer, 2 coats covers well
#2 how much paint should it take to do a car ? the whole car inside and out .
I'll leave that to the pros, right now I either mix up too much or not enough..LOL
#3 what kind of paint base clear , Acrylic Enamel Paint or Acrylic Urethane
Definately Urethane over AE...Its more durable and last longer. Acrylic Urethane is a single stage. Base Coat clear coat, would probably be the way to go for a novice.
#4 i want to paint the car myself , i have never painted before . am i nuts ?
No your not nuts...theres only one way to learn! Just be prepared its a lot of work and takes good tools, equipment and materials.......GOOD LUCK!

#5 how much should one pay for the primer and paint ? we have a paint suplier here in cranberry but i think their prices are a little steap . According to what brand. I've been hearing good things about SPI's primers and clears, really quality products, great price, and if there isn't a jobber near you just contact them, they'll send if w/free shipping. I used Summits Epoxy primer (re-labled kirker) its about 50 bucks for a quart of primer and a quart of activator (2 sprayable quarts), But If you buy it in gallons its less than 100 for 2 sprayable gallons. I used Nason 421-17 Urethane primer, its about 110 for a gallon of primer and a quart of activator (mixes 4:1)

you can do it but expect to make mistakes along the way...you can learn from mine in the following posts. In a nut shell if you take you time you can do it and save a ton of $$$. Below is the photo of my truck, first one I've ever painted and I think it looks fine.

good luck!
