Does anyone know if they used different driveshafts for 727 vs A833 transmissions in 66 chargers and if so, what were the lengths of them. How much "play" front to back should be in a driveshaft. I have a converted 4speed car (from auto) and had to take the driveshatf out to replace the Ujoints. The shaft had basically zero play when I removed it BUT the car was jacked up in the front, would that make a difference? In other words, would it have some play if it were level?

With the car at ride height the shaft should have about 1" of room left to compress.

Thanks, I have about 1/4"! Will have to find someone to shorten it I suppose.

It should be just slightly over 51 inches long from yoke center to yoke center.  (IIRC)
