Went to the local dodge dealership and they asked if i would put my car in their show room floor, i asked howlong they said as long as i wanted to.  i told them since i dont have heat in my garage and its cold and snowy outside, how about i just leave it there for the winter. ( free winter storage)  :2thumbs:

Now, how cool is that! Hopefully it returns safely.

Is there a 'not for sale' sign in the window?  :scratchchin:

That is awesome :2thumbs: you would be surprised on how many people it attracts into a dealership, here is what on our dealership, original owner 69 daytona

Ghoste

I guess you have to do what you have to do to get winter storage but you are going to have to be cool with the fact that it will be a winter long freak magnet.  People are going to be climbing all over it and in and out of it all winter.
I'd expect a lot of fine scratches and a bunch of missing and/or broken small parts come the spring.  :shruggy:  I hope not, but just being Captain Obvious here and pointing it out is all.

dookie01

Yeah you gotta watch people so they dont scratch it, ding it, or climb all over it. The Daytona is right in front of my office so i watch it like a hawk. These are my kids so i let them stand a little closer than usual :scratchchin: but bein a Mopar and Classic car guy I can appreciate and respect other peoples rides and watch them and take care of them, just for the fact they let us enjoy them on a daily basis

Landonsrt

Tell them to put up the velvet ropes and signs. DO NOT TOUCH!!! this doesnt always work either.

Ghoste

Going by my experience at classic car auctions I can almost promise that ropes will only provide a way to have heavy stanchions tipping over onto the car and really mess it up.  It seems like velvet ropes have some powerful aromatherapy or something that tells fat people, "yes, you can easily step over me".
Unless the dealership in question have a staff that are extremely trustworthy this just isn't something I would want to do.
Having sold cars, I really believe that if it helps get the kids away from mom and dad for a few minutes to help close a deal, most salespeople will happily send little Johnnie and Susie to go play in the Dukes car.

Sweet... congrats  :2thumbs:     Looks good in there.

My local dodge dealer sent me an invitation for heated winter storage...   $100 / month.  Must be kinda slow.
Still thinking it over...  my garage is free... and unheated.  :scratchchin:

You are exactly right.   The chances of it coming home without some deterioration are somewhere between slim and none.    If you could have a camera on the car, I think you would be surprised how much it will get pawed.

mally69

;)  I put the car in late that night but they have it roped off now about 6 feet away the whole way around. and its right in front of 4 salesman office's one of which i know really well. i think it should be ok. ill bet there are gonna be like a thousand people asking about if its for sale.  its better there i think than having my exhuast packed full of corn from mice blowing out the exhaust like a shotgun in the spring when i get it out of my ice box garage  :nana:  I was definatly concerned about how close people were going to be able to get to it.

Sublime/Sixpack

A while back my Charger was part of a local University's display "Art On Wheels" in their Museum of Art. Hardwood floor, its own room, 70 degree temp., motion detector, video camera, and a two foot high railing to keep people back, and I was still uneasy about it being there for the seven months the display ran.
Everything turned out okay and it had to be the best winter the Charger ever spent.

Not to make you worry but theres no way I'd leave my Charger on a Dealer's floor unless I was hell bent on selling it. Hopefully your car will be safe and many people will enjoy seeing it there.

Thats cool! Back a few years ago, there was a '72 Challenger on the local Dodge dealerships showroom. It was yellow, black interior, 340/4-speed. It was actually for sale though. It was the early 2000's I think they was asking 12,900 for it. Should have come up with the money to buy it :brickwall:

That is one nice and beautiful charger there, I like it! :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:

lexxman

Well I'd leave my car in a dealer,if they were responsible for any damage. But other then that it's not different then being at a car show.

Ghoste

It's worse than a car show.  Much worse.  :yesnod:

Mikesmoparperformance

Way Cool looks great! with the other cars  :icon_smile_big:, When a customer comes in the first thing they will ask is that car for sale?  :drool5: :scratchchin:

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

lexxman

Ya,I got to say it does look cool sitting on the show room floor.Almost like going back in time.lol

JT01

Looks cool in there but there is no way in Hell I would do that.

mally69

Thanks guys for all comments,  ill bet the old charger never thought it would see they day it could set in a showroom at a dealership. I guess there have been a bunch of people trying to buy it already  :icon_smile_big: .  I would never part with it.

jb666

Those are awesome shots!! I , too, would be worried about all the hands that'll be on it this winter...

I'm friends with the owner of the Dodge dealership here in town. If my car had been done in time he wanted to clear his showroom for me, too, to do some pictures.. He even bought some retro stickers for his windows to make the place look like it did back then... It's going to happen in the Spring, now... At least now I know how it'll look!!

As they say everything has a price, If someone came along and just had to have it you sure you wouldn't sell it?
Jeff

I've had my fisrt gen since '85- I courted my wife in the car- well, only in the summer ( she sure hated walking in the winter- must have been love) I really don't think I would sell it for any price ( not worth that much anyway)I would be one of those guys letting it rot away instead of selling.
