RIDELIKEHELL

I awoke to an email from Legendary Motor Car Co. today about this CUDA they have spent almost 7000 hours on.

Sneak peak..

On a sunny early December day a much altered 1970 Plymouth Barracuda returned to its spiritual home at the Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea Michigan and broke the 200 mph barrier.

The culmination of almost seven thousand hours of hard work by the team at Legendary Motorcar, the Cuda' is the successful realization of a seemingly impossible goal. Can Legendary Motorcar build a resto-mod muscle car that will rival the world's most exotic super cars?

The television show Dream Car Garage, which can be seen each Saturday on SUN TV, has followed the construction of the Super Cuda' from a rusted shell to show car and track star. This week's show is the season finale, featuring the exciting shootout between the twin-turbo V10 powered Super Cuda' and an Enzo Ferrari.

Less than a month ago Peter Klutt, Pres. of Legendary Motorcar and Chip Foose debuted the Super Cuda' at the SEMA convention in Las Vegas. The car was an instant hit but it had yet to achieve its most important goal, to match the performance of an Enzo Ferrari and to go 200mph!

The clock was ticking down to the last episode of Dream Car Garage's 2009 season. The Cuda' had to be filmed meeting its goal no later than Thursday of last week or the show would not make it to air, whether the Legendary Motorcar team met with success or failure.

On top of everything they had to find a place to actually go the distance, calls to airports and race tracks across N. America proved fruitless until the true car enthusiasts at Chrysler agreed to let the Super Cuda' run on their high banked oval at the storied Chelsea proving grounds.

It all came together on Tuesday December 1st. The Super Cuda impressed the engineers at Chelsea and was cleared to run on the track. Grey skies and the threat of snow gave way to sun. As the track warmed, speeds increased and the Super Cuda' punched a hole in the air topping 208 mph with still more power to spare.

As Peter said, "above 200 the Cuda' was running out of aero and I was running out of cohones".

The Super Cuda's 200 mph run can be seen on the season finale of Dream Car Garage on SUN TV this Saturday December 12th at 1:00 PM and Sunday December 13th at 7:30 AM.

Interesting project.  Oddly enough I kind of like the front end of it.

TheGhost

I like it a helluva lot better than the Salt Flats A body Barracuda someone did a couple years back.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

That car is nothing short of spectacular and honestly, I would rather have that in my garage than an Enzo. My hat goes off to those guys man, as that is a seriously amazing machine.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Not a huge huge fan of the front valance but otherwise, I'm totally loving that car. :drool5:

They're going 200 mph in that thing.

The custom front valance is the only reason the car's roof hasn't touched the pavement yet.

Very Nice!!! it's in the latest issue of MCG Magazine but, not a full feature just a pic and mention in their Sema 2009 show write up. 1500 H.P, Twin Turbo V10 Viper Motor!  :2thumbs: Jan 2010 issue with Jay Leno on the cover for those who are interested.

Whats so special about 208 mph... the daytonas did that back in 1969 *scratches head*

Nice car though... front valance looks a little alienish

I dont know if it would perform around corners like an enzo though.... hard to believe it would. Circle track = one thing... windy hair pin track.... i wonder.

over 1000 horsepower? I dont think the enzo comes close to that and it hits 200mph.

Why use a twin turbo v10... wouldnt of 1000hp been easier with a blown or turboed v8 hemi?

Both are really nice just saw the 5 min version... as much as I dont like ferraris I have to admit that thing looks the part on the track  :o

at 2:17 that ferrari just looks like the car you wouldnt wanna mess with on the track. Makes cuda look out of its league completely... very nice both of them though!

I wonder what you could get out of a Dayclona that had 1000 hp and 7000 man hours into it  :scratchchin:

Sorry but I just don't think E-bodies were meant to go near 200 for anything more than a few seconds in a straight line.   It's a neat project I suppose.  To each their own  :shruggy:

:iagree: yeah as much as that car is an awesome bulid & a some real nice work going into it & lots of hours , for me should of dropped a elephant motor under the hood ! :yesnod: ,  sticking a V10 in there is sort of taking  away the old time muscle car Cuda thing :scratchchin:

also i always associate bendy road stuff racing stuff with cudas & challengers , &  top end C500 daytonas & superbirds
should of built up a Daytona  clone instead with a elephant motor  :Twocents: :Twocents: :yesnod: :popcrn:
