I just put together a $93.80 order for Year One. The shipping and handling come out to $77.41 for a total of $159.65 after using the discount code. Are people really going to order from them? That is just nuts! They have good stuff but come on now. Who do they think they are going to sell too anymore? And besides all that they want to charge like $6 or $7 for there catalog. So long Year One, you are pricing your selves out of bussiness. There are other parts houses to do bussiness with.

I have never baught anything from them so I dunno

Yeah I've always found them to be ridiculously expensive for parts and especially shipping. What I've heard commonly is they will ship say a side mirror in a box made for gauge cluster and that's where they get your on shipping :yesnod:

I ordered an engine wiring harness from them a month ago, the harness was 119.00 and the delivery charge was 21.63 which I felt was reasonable.

Were your items to be shipped oversized? :shruggy:

I hear that, I quit doind bussness with them when their cataloge the $8 one was obsolete and their prices rose $8 on like everything, and they sent me some crappy parts, I had to repaint a $50 battery tray because when the chinese made it they scrathed them and thats a second reaosn I have an American car I dont want your crappy chinese parts on my American car.

69bronzeT5

Oh and I guess it says something that I have catalogs for every parts company EXCEPT for YearOne...I ain't paying $8 for theirs! You think since they charge so much for parts and shipping they'd give free catalogs like everyone else ::)

If you tell them to send you a catolog for free if they want your business, they will. I have never paid for a catolog or shipping. I ordeded all the wiring for my 69 charger. The price was over $1000, but after the discount it was only $756. I told them i didnt want to pay shipping either. You have got to be strick with people if your going to save money these days. And dont do business with anyone who doesnt want to work for your business. I will never pay advertised price from any company. Just my 2cents (cell phone).

It's been kind of an ongoing issue for a little while now.  Basically, anything they have can be bought someplace else.

Except for factory appearing wiring.  They have an exclusive contract with M&H wiring.

On my order I had some sun visor tips, divider pad for between back seat and trunk, jute pad for the divider, and a trunk mat. Nothing heavy.

As soon as I saw the shipping I never even placed the order.

My guess is that the divider behind the rear seat is what made the shipping cost so high.  It was an oversized shipment.  The same was true for me when I ordered the package tray from them.  The oversized shipping cost was significant.

They do middleman most of those M&H harnesses to the Paddock but then you pay a little more for the extra set of hands.  SO if you were dead set agianst using YO then you could go to the Paddock.  You'd still be feeding the dog though.  :shruggy:

yep I agree with most everyone here, I stopped using year one after I got my first computer and was able to go online. Everything they sell (except for the wiring, and maybe a couple of other 'exclusive' items) is available anywhere else cheaper. Year one is a middle man....those high prices and shipping, your paying for all that shit they give away on Overhaulin, etc.
You gotta watch there eBay ads too...I was looking for a 2 inch rubber body plug, and found one on ebay, it was like 3.95, then I looked up the shipping.............10.95  The seller, you guessed it YearOne.

Jason

myk

The only thing I will buy from them is wiring harnesses and only when they have the 20% off code, really hard to beat the prices on that. Otherwise I order elsewhere. I can't stand companys that actually think its OK to up-charge you on shipping, especially when I am sure they have a huge contract with UPS and they probably pay 1/4 of what they actually charge you for shipping. More companys need to take after summit racing, that is one business that is OK in my book!!! Hmmm........ Summit restoration parts :scratchchin: kinda has a nice ring to it.

Year One, The Paddock and Jim's are good for us foreigners if/when we make big orders. They have a lot of stuff and then the shippingcost
don't hurt that much as if you would make 100 small orders.

I went to order an oil pan from Year One, $160  for the pan then  they wanted $225 to USPS to Australia :nana:  I got one from Mancini's for the same price and $55 shipping  via USPS.
I made a complaint with Yearone a few months ago when they charged me $75 shipping for A/C wiring harness and a couple of emblems, the USPS charge on the box was $28 and that was with Yearone catalogs that weigh about 4pounds that I did not ask for, they refunded the difference and said in future request for no catalogs as they are automatically sent with order.

Megaparts has the some of the fairest shipping rates and great service as well.

Year ONE......Uppity, High Class, "Hollywood" type thinkin' since they were in F&F Movie a while back..Expect to be screwed when ordering from Y/O...
