I want to remove the paint before repainting these cause of the various runs there now. I know I could use paint remover, but I am thinking it will be hard to get it out of all the tight areas. Would plastic bead media blasting be ok, or would that damage the bezels as I know they are porn to warpage?

I dissasembly the bezel and would go with paint remover. I don't think is hard to get it out, just aply again and again untill get all the paint and remover completelly.

To the tight areas you can use a brush

my 2 cents

Suprisingly their made of metal...I think paint remover of media would be fine

I hit mine with 240/320 sand paper and hit them with semi-gloss krylon...they look fine

Seeing as how they are metal and if you have a Plastic Media Blaster in your area. It would do a great job. You will be surprised at the out come. The finish would be as if they where never painted. But if you don't want to what. Paint stripper will work also.

There is a High Performance car store near me ironically called R/T Speed Shop. He does plastic media blasting reasonably cheap. I'm going to have him do my dual snorkle air cleaner too. This guy has a good reputation too. Been around since the early '80s or so. When I asked him about my air cleaner, he said $25.00 to do it. So I figure about the same for the lights. I was just wondering how the bezels would stand up to the bead blasting. Thanks!

I have done 2 sets of those bezels with a media blaster, I used aluminum oxide, it turned out super.  You will love it, and it does not hurt them.  It makes getting into the "Cracks" of the bexels very easy.  When you blast anything with aluminum oxide, the finish is aluminum colored, and looks jsut like it came out of the mold!  Very nice, you will be pleased, its worth the money, and it is perfectly finished for primer/paint.    I will attach a pic of the final results, if your are interested.  Hope this helps.

I use Aluminum Oxide the way I use Glass beads. It dose etch the metal to a certain degree. Plastic dose not etch the metal at all. So if your going to blast a part that has any polished area to it at all. Make sure you tape off those areas with duct tape before blasting.

Good Point Drop Top.
As far as the paint, the bezels have 3 different colors.  Black and 2 shades of silver.  I found a guy that repaints them, his name was Jimmy Boros.  He lives up North (Minnesota, maybe).  ANyway he does a nice job on 71 grills and tail light bezels.  I have his email address if your interested.  I will attach a picture of my grills and bezels.  He is a bit pricy, but he does a good job.

I know Jimmy!  I have bought from him before... Ill have to give him a call!

What kind of metal are they anyway?
would it be OK to solder cracks in them or could it turn into a right mess?
