Threaded hole on 383 below fuel pump mount - what is it?

It's right below the inlet and it appears to line up with a hole inside the block.  Can someone tell me what it is?
Plans are useless; planning is indispensible.
Especially with an old car!

It's where you slide the fuel pump pushrod into the block.

it's there to allow you put the fuel pump pushrod in.

Thanks guys.  I was wondering how the fuel pump got access to the crank and without all the parts you sort of go  :scratchchin:
