i have a 11.5 to 1, 440 .030 over with a 296/557 mech cam, 516 heads 2.14/1.81's, dual quad weiand tunnel ram with dual 600 eddy's on top, 727 and 8.75 with 4.56 spool on 3800 lb SS springs.  I am hoping to hit 11.9's.. but we will see how she goes.. dont want to set the bar too high.  I ran the same car about 5 years ago with crappy leafs and a 292/.509 cam to 12.17 at 108 at heartland.  terrible sixty foots if i remember correctly (like 1.79) but had a good top end charge(r) hehe. play on words.

A pair of Holly 660 single fuel double pumpers with center shooters, 29X11/15 slicks. With what you have will puit you in the high 10's. I ran about the same set up for years those Edlebrocks never would show me tens no matter what I did. The 660's got me 10.978 out of the box and tuned to solid 10.7's.

My '71 numbers matching 383...currently a restomod project.  Will end up a '71 R/T "clone" with an airgrabber hood...the 383 will be stroked to a 496+6.  The car will be returned to it's original GA4 gunmetal color, too.

Thank you so much.  Here is a pic of an old gf and my first charger taken in '81. Ya gotta dig that leisure suit.  And that paint job -- stripes in pearlescent white with orange fogging -- car was plum crazy.  Wish I had a better picture.  Kim

Great thread I love these Cars all of em! What more can be said about Dougs that thing is amazing. Kim your car is awesome. Love the steel wheels! All the other cars here are inspiring. Heres my 71 500. Had the numbers matching engine but got rid of it before I knew any better. Owned the car for 17 years. Painted it myself in my driveway 6 years ago and installed black vinyl top, originally white top and interior. Upgraded to Hughes  cam 223/228, changed out 8.25 rear for a 489 case 3.55 gears. Trans rebuild with shift kit, Holley 770. Learned alot about body work Needs to be done again but I got so many projects I will be busy till retirement.

This was at Carlisle in July 2009

AmadeusCharger500

This was my project last year. Im done with it only because I got the 73 in the garage. Yu should always have a plan! I seem to make mine up as I go.  Anyway this thing got all its front end parts taken off sandblasted and painted with Eastwoods Diamond chassis black and clearcoat. All new bushings including K-frame and torsion bar frame. Had this one painted by a referall who promptly oversprayed all the underside and engine bay. Did As much touch up as I could to bring it back. This ones getttin stripes since its nice and straight. I only post it here because Im not sure how to present it at shows. Its a california car, No rust underneath. Previous owner was making a 71 rt clone which I thought would make me happy to drive while the purple 500 was tied up in all its surgery.

AmadeusCharger500

Here it is almost back together. Bought 2 sets of steel wheels from carlisle last year, one Cop set. Trying them out...Need to get used to them.
