Where to get headlight motor relay for 70 Charger?

Year one has a reproduction relay for $89 (CHR70) but shipping and handling are ridiculous so I would rather buy elsewhere.  Anyone replaced their's?

I just bypassed that overly priced thing and installed a 3 way toggle switch between the headlight switch and the headlight motor. When you turn on the head light switch on it gives power to the three way toggle switch. when powered on and toggle switched to the left it sends power to the headlight motor to roll up the lights. When toggled to the left it rolls the lights down. Then I just switch to the middle to cut the power to the motor so I dont burn out the motor. You just have to remember to do this when using the lights or your burn out your headlight motor.
This has been working pretty well for me over the years and costs a hell of a lot less then those relays :2thumbs:

I would use the Bosch relay set-up that Nacho posted...if it ever goes out, you can get them at any auto part store

RTDaddy

Anyone got a number on that "Bosch style" relay?

They are all the same....just go to auto part store and get the square 5-pin Bosch relay that is hanging in the electrical section.

Less than $10 I believe

AND the socket for it

Yea...fergot about the socket....those are there at the stores also....

BTW, socket can be used with original terminals on car. No need to cut and splice the wires coming on socket in to the existing wiring at least the ones for the outup to the hideaways motor. Just need to remove the wires on socket, remove the plug on wiring and install the wires of car into the socket on propper location.

exceptions will be
-the green  bolted on a stud on original relay ( eyelet terminals ). This can be attached to the socket wire with a screw and nut ( or a rivet ), using an eyelet terminal into the socket wire too and then wrapping with shrinking tube or electrical tape. In that way you won't need to cut the original wires in case you find an original relay later.

-Breaker... being is a metallic strap, then splice on socket wire an eyelet terminal and attach it to the propper breaker location. My self when repaired a 70, keep together the breaker and socket with a wires strap.

-Ground wire... being the original relay is chassis grounded, this bosch relay needs to be wired grounded because is plastic. So simply attach it to any ground available around. You can use same relay bolting screw you will use to fit on to dash or whatever you think to attach
