I took off work today to replace my lower control arm bushings.  I ordered from Advance the Moog K791s for my 70 RR.  1 box was made in Mexico and the other from Malaysia.  One bushing will slip right over the shaft plus clearance (about (.023") and the other is going to be a tight press fit.  When I rotated the loose bushing on the shaft it was obvious that the outer and inner sleeves had no concentricity with each other.  Even sitting the 2 side by side they look different.  I had always heard that Moog put out good stuff but I guess its not the same between plants.  I work at a plant making gas and diesel injection, and ABS brake systems.  I would have no doubts that whether I bought any one of the them and it came from Brazil, USA, Germany, or any other place, it would be the same specs as one of the others.  Maybe different vendors for components but all the same end specs result.  Anyone else get bad Moog stuff or was I just the lucky one as usual?  Now I have another wasted day that I could have been putting the car back togethor because of bad new parts  :brickwall:.
The other question is what kind of fit is the shaft to bushing supposed to have?  I had to cut the original sleeve off the shaft so it must need some press fit but how much?

I ordered another from the Advance Store to replace the oversize bushing.  Should be in tommorrow morn and then I'll see what its like.   Advance matched all Rock Autos prices for me on everything for the whole suspension rebuild.   Most of the other parts were USA, a few from Mexico.

I had a bad built Moog idler arm, all this stuff I read about how the angle of the idler needs to match the steering box's, to the point of grinding the mount holes if needed and I look at this thing and tube through bushing is cocked 15-20 degrees off center. NAPA gave me upper control arm bushings from Mexico, India, and somewhere else, I told them they all need to be the same, each even looked different. Months later I went to use them and they were not center aligned in there sleeves. I got Moogs and the were perfect. Check any parts very close at the counter or as soon as they are received in shipping.

I'm thinking he got a switcharoony, someone put a brand x crap part in the Moog box and returned it. (also read carefully sometimes the box is made in USA and the part is "Assorted Suppliers".

Was the bad part the bushing on the right in your pic?  I recently replaced all bushings in the front end of my 71RR with Moog parts.  The bushings I used had the markings similiar to the left bushing in your pic.  Both lower control arm bushings had to be pressed on the shafts and in the control arms.  Sounds like someone played let's sway the parts.

Bad part was on the right.  Replacement part today was just like the one on the left.  Its a possibility that someone switched parts but the store had to next day order from their wharehouse and wasn't regular in store stock.  Box stated the part was made in Mexico.  I was asked to post the picture of the tool I made for removing the torsion bars so here it is.  Worked great.
