No, it didn't prevent a break-in...

It's saved 3 dead batteries, so far... All from lights being left on inside vehicles!! I'll look at the camera and instantly see the light that's on...

Here's tonight's save.. The wife's Navigator battery...

Two nights ago, when it was down close to 30, I noticed my daughter's dome light was on, and last week I left the dome light on my truck on!!!

These 4 are hard wired cameras. I paid $500 for this system. I wanted one the second I walked into Jon's shop and saw his... Mine record the slightest bit of motion in certain areas.

I have another camera that's wireless (that I can view directly from my IPhone). It's got a range of (it says) 100'. It's only about 20' from the receiver and is perfect, so I can't say that I've tested it.. My one (Lorex) wireless setup ran me $99.

That wireless one should work. Ill have to do some research. I get paranoid about the car since the garage is right off the street (not behind the house or anything).

Yeah, some are that way... I didn't care about recording on my wireless camera. I only needed it to view from the IPhone when I wasn't near a computer. The others record 24/7/365 day or night.

I bought a 4 camera wireless system last year...got it all installed and it worked fine, sort of...when it was working, it would interfere with my wireless laptops and not allow them to connect to my router.

And the range of the wireless cameras was not that far....20' was max

Yeah, I did try a different system last year, also.. 4 wireless cameras.. And anything over 20' they were complete and total shit.. Which to me was useless.

After we had our break in last year at the old house, and the sons of bitches stole over five thousand dollars worth of electrical tools, we talked to our buddy who works for a Vegas security company. (We got the hook-up! And still do!)  :2thumbs: Cameras are a must when you have nice rides, and especially now since the economy tanked. More and more people every day are doing stupid crimes just to survive.  :rotz:

But,........if they come for our Gen.. you better be packing more heat than me!!!!!!! :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :2guns:

You could of saved a lot of money if you taught everyone to shut of the interior lamps. :icon_smile_wink:
All cars should have a system that if you leave the lights on longer than 10 or 15 minutes they automatically shut off.  I know some do, and my Ford work van does.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Get yourself A Linksys WRT54G router, flash it to DD-WRT and use it as a bridge. The camera will think its hard wired ;)

I see dead people.

I do too, which reminds me, I really need to dispose of those bodies...

This reminds me of the time we had a minivan and the kids were small. My wife would come home, stop the van and open the doors at which point the dome lights would come on. Ok, no problem there but when my girls would stand up to get out they'd bump their little heads on the dome lights and click them on. By then they'd be walking into the house and the lights stayed on anyway for 30 seconds after the doors shut so you wouldn't think anything of it... until the next day when the battery was dead. :P I had to jump start that stupid van at least six times and replace the battery once before we sold it.

The only thing I don't like about my current setup is that I can't hide out in the garage any more...  :brickwall:

Sure. My system is made by Lorex. I got it at BJ's, and they also sell it at Cosco, for $500. It's VERY simple to set up, and is all hardwired (nothing wireless).

Monitoring.. Very simple. You can do it locally (home network) by logging into the DVR's IP address, or you can monitor your cameras from anywhere via Internet Explorer (DVR software not compatible with Apple).

No maintenance costs at all. You set your "control panel" up on Lorex's site, but it's all free when you buy the system, with no charges (ever).

If you want more info, shoot me a PM or an email (jb666@comcast.net) and I'd be glad to help you out!!

Thank you for the reply.  There is a Cosco close by,,,,i am going to check it out,,,and see what i think.  I might shoot ya a PM if i get it,,,and have some questions....thanks again, Doug

Doug -- They also have an 8 camera system you may want to consider. It's got the ability to pan, zoom, and has a few other features mine doesn't... Not to mention 4 more cameras. It's $1k, but IMO well worth it. It comes with the DVR AND the monitor.
