Well it was a good year & a half but I had to let #896/1650 '08 Charger Daytona go.   My crappy NYC streets & traffic couldn't really let me enjoy this car as my daily driver.   Basically I fell out of love with her.  I know most of you "hard core" Charger owners hated the car, but it is what it is.  The one thing Ill miss most is the '08 Daytona exhaust note....different than the base R/T & SRT models it had a sinister growl that turned heads where ever I went....or maybe it was the blinding orange paint? ;)
Anyhoo this feeling has been going on for a few months now so I started shopping for a "regular" car/truck so to speak.  Something that had a little better build quality, handling, braking than the cheap feeling Dodge.  I went back looking into foreign (flame suit on)

Started with the Toyota Tacoma....didn't pan out. Then I went for my all time fav....an '08 Infinity FX35 in Autumn Bronze metallic with the brick interior.  Always wanted one of these & the '08 was the last year of the previous body style (which I like better than the '09-'10)  Wasted a day checking out 2 of them.  Both were total POS's because they were not taken care of at all....you'd think a 48k+(new) vehicle might garner some extra special care from the previous owners?  NOT ....30k shitboxes.

On Sunday I went to NJ to my parents house to bring back my '69 after my garage addition.   On the way there, across the highway, I passed a Honda dealer & saw a peculiar vehicle on the lot, all by itself.  Man did that thing have some shape/stance to it I thought...WTF was it?  I remembered reading about a new Honda crossover coming out soon but I couldn't remember what it was.   on the way back in the '69, I was able to cruise by a little slower past it....still looked cool!
Went home & found out it was the '10 Honda Accord Crosstour.

To make a long story even longer on Monday I went to my local Honda dealer (where I previously leased 3 other Hondas & my wifes current '09 CR-V) test drove the 2WD model, fell in love & got the Black Pearl/black leather 4WD model on the showroom floor.  They only got it in 2 weeks ago & I was the first one to buy one!  The VIN # is 000711 ;)
Had it for half a day so far & at the deli this morning I got my first "awesome car man!  What is it?"

Well Good Bye to the old ORNGHEMI

Congrats on the Crosstour man... it's actually the first one I've seen outside of a magazine and looks much better in the flesh. I think the Crosstour was a good move for Honda. It's got style, AWD reliability, usability and a fresh shape which will keep it current for the next ump-teen years. I know I had an '06 Accord... great overall car, but boring as hell, although perfect for getting lost in a sea rolling jelly beans.

As good as the Crosstour is though, I have a feeling you'll be missing that power... well, maybe not when it snows, or rains, or is cold... but maybe someday.

Good luck with it and enjoy it in good health!

Yeah I know about the pic but it is kinda cool though...I just might leave it to piss you all off!  ;)

Mike you might have a point about the power but stop light to stop light gets old after a while.   It definitely did put a smile on my face at a 50mph full throttle kick down on the bottom level of the VZ bridge....scares the SHIT out of my fellow commuters! :drive:

For a V6 this thing has 271 HP, takes regular gas & hopefully gets a little better mileage than the 11-12 I was getting with the Daytona

I have 2 Honda Accords love them great cars

NYCMille

Totally agree man and I agree about the mileage, believe me, I know... I use my SRT Magnum as a daily driver and all I can say is thank GOD I work from home! I can't wait to hear the Crosstour during the first snow - I need a new car for my wife eventually and this may fit the bill.

Congrats!!

I sold my '06 R/T a few months ago two, for multiple reasons.. I Never fell "in love" with it.. The car just always left me wanting more.. Felt cheap, didn't perform, didn't handle... but it rode nice.. It was just so damn slow...

Anyways, with winter rapidly approaching I used the excuse (although valid) to buy my truck...  I came VERY close to buying a Honda Ridgeline, but couldn't find one used in my area!!!!!!!!!!! You'll love it though, it'll run forever!!!!!!!!!

Chris, sorry to hear that you had to let the Charger go. BUT, now we'll all be guaranteed that the "nicer" Charger is brought to Carlisle every year.  :2thumbs:

You know I LOVE HONDA's.  I really love the style of the Acura LT.  I can't believe you loved the " '08 Infinity FX35 in Autumn Bronze metallic "  That was my favorite car and color for it also.  Beautiful car you have there.  I like GM's statement " May the best car win "  Right now it's Honda's for me, but it looks like Ford is doing a great job and I'm positive GM will do the same soon.  Enjoy, it's beautiful.  Gonna miss the 2 Orange cars though, just happy you kept the 69.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

And to think I fell out of grace by buying a BUICK!  Your turning into one sophisticated dude, dude!

that is, of course, until you get tired with it.. and buy your all time favorite vehicle.... this:

I know the feeling all to well as I got rid of my 2005 Magnum R/T a month ago & bought a 2009 HONDA RIDGELINE..I was having all kinds of front end issues & the warranty was a 1000 miles from expiring. I looked at full size trucks but the Tundras were way to pricy & the Ridgeline fit for what I needed. Can't wait to try it out in the winter here in Canada....I retired my HEMIVIZN plates though  :'(

I don't plan on using this Truck as a work horse..more than ample to pick up a cord or 2 of firewood for the cottage or to put a quad or snowblower in. It is nimble in traffic, parking lots etc & rides much better than any full size truck I tested. Which is due to strength that comes from an integrated closed-box frame with unit-body construction. The locking storage in the rear of the box is a marvel of technology that is an added bonus. I don't plan on towing anything especially the Charger as it is no trailer queen. I understand your points though

Actually I thought the guys acted pretty civil, this would have made for an interesting thread on Moparts ;)
Far as I'm concerned, whatever makes you happy is what counts. It's the same as all these arguments when members ask if they should keep their car stock or mod it. It's their own car, do what you want.
Just don't trade the 69 for a mini, you'll be forced to turn in your mancard.

Yep, I agree. Although I will never buy a foreign car no matter how superior in quality in may appear to be.  My dollars will go back into an American company.  Just the way I have always felt, but on the other side of the coin.  Everyone works for their own money and has the freedom to choose whatever they like foreign or domestic.

Family cars are supposed to be boring. You cannot fit child seats in a Challenger (ok, they fit but putting kids in them isn't easy) and it's just as bad on NY roads as the Charger. Chris has the 69 if he wants a play toy.

I am planning on buying an '06 R/T in the spring. Thanks for the inspiration. Why did you have to tell us this? Must be one of those self-loathing liberals. A hybrid would be good for you Wuss.
So, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the Charger manufactured in Canada by a German company (at least until mid-2007)? That means the '06 Charger is even less American than a Honda built in the US.

A true self loathing liberal would be telling every one else what to drive wouldn't they? I think it's commendable to do what's best for one's family above personal desires.

Having said that, I'm not a big fan :D - but I didn't like the Charger either and I think this one is more practical.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

You're sorry you registered your '69 because the owner of the registry bought a Honda? Dude, you need to grow up. Chris and his registry has helped a lot of people, myself included. And Chris is always ready to answer a question, and never complains about it. Believe me, I've asked him a lot of stupid questions. And mentioning Pearl Harbor? Give it a rest already. Kick this tool off the site, please.

so Japanese shouldn't buy American cars? "Remember Hiroshima!"  ::)

That Honda is probably more American than that so called 06 Charger anyway!

Hard to say, Japan doesn't typically make it too easy for other countries to sell their products there. :icon_smile_wink:

No bsakal, we are not going to "give it a rest already" on December 7. It is Pearl Harbor day in the U.S. And I certainly do believe you asked Chris a lot of stupid questions. But Troy, you want to commend him for being a martyr for his family....he just said "(although I wasn't trying to please anyone but myself)". By the way Chris knew to put on the flame suit when he started this so let him speak for himself.

You are a complete tool. If you tell me you're over 15, I will be shocked. Go away already, you and your 12 posts won't be missed. :Twocents:

Chris,

Congrats on the new car and best of luck with it.  I, personally am not a fan of that styling of car, but again, I was not the one who bought the car.  If you liked it and you bought it, then you did the right thing for you!  I was never personally a fan of the 4 door charger basically cause I thought it brought the charger name down a notch.  After owning a complete piece of crap 2005 ram hemi quad cab that had nothing but problems, I started to shy away from Chrysler newer products once they got bought out by Daimler.

Again, only you can justify what your needs are and if this car suites you best, then kudos!  I bought a 2005 F-150 FX-4 truck after my dodge incident because I thought it was far superior compared to every other truck out there.  Not only did it tow more but seemed to handle better on the road than any other truck I test drove.  Again, the vehicle that you choose has to suite you since most of us spend more time in our cars traveling anymore than we do working on them.

Good luck with it, and hopefully the people that have a bug up their ass with this topic take a piss in the wind!

No I wasn't trying to please anyone on THIS SITE....clear enough for you?  My family is quite pleased thank you....well except my older daughter.  She liked the attention she got when I pick her up from high school.  I think its better this way now...outta ammo for the shotgun ;)

I put the "flame suit" on for my friends...not for a dolt that has to bring up Pearl Harbor because someone bought a foreign car.

PS---the sad part is that El Capitan well over 15 :rotz:

PSS--we're done here.  Gotta love this place
