Ever since my dad passed away, I been under incredible stress. The most I ever been in, in my life. Not really cause he is gone, but all the other things going on like my truck breaking down 3 times in 3 weeks costing me $1,300. (intake gasket/fuel pump/gas line leaking bad in that order) and other things costing me unexpected bills (I had a series of about 6 of them since October 1st). For the past 5 years or so, I've dealt with chest pains around my heart that come and go (like pin pricks), but never nothing like heart attack symptoms. But as of late, they seem to be getting worse/sharper. So, tomorrow, I am going in for the resting stress test where you lay on a bed, and inject you with a "nuclear" something that makes you heart race like you never had it do, and they take x-rays of your heart while pumped up. I had one of these in 2000, and it is unreal. Then Thursday morning, I go in for the treadmill portion of the test. I had the treadmill test in 2003. Both times in the past, my heart passed with flying colors. So, I hope it does again these next two days. But, if I stop coming here, you guys know it went bad. Wish me luck. I am posting this because, I am that worried about the tests right now. It just feels like the guardian angels left with my dad, and now I am being tested for something.  :-\

I wish I had that gene that allows some people not to worry about anything. Apparently people on the dole have that gene because I worry about money fairly frequently but it must be nice to just get checks from the government for doing nothing but watching TV at home.

Anyway, the good news is you got your truck fixed so hopefully you're beyond that issue for a while. And FWIW, $1,300 sounds like a pretty inexpensive repair bill for three repairs compared to what it could have been. Not to minimize it but sometimes you really have to look at the bright side of things.

TruckDriver

Thanks guys.

Whelp, I survived todays testing. They didn't give me the stuff that makes your heart feel like it is going to pop out of your body. I never even could feel anything after the shot. So, actually, todays test was a piece of cake which is fine by me. Tomorrow, though, the dreaded treadmill test :P
I'll get all my test results on Friday. More tomorrow.

I agree. Actually, this past sping, I was going to replace the fuel pump as a preventive thing, but it never got done. Instead I put it off for other things the truck needed. Well, it's done now. Now all it really needs is all new U-joints, front brake roters, and new front fenders. For having 242,100+ miles, the truck is doing good. It's just all been rotten timing. The intake manifold gaskets were the first time the engine has been opened up as far as I know.

I did my treadmill part of the test this morning, and they already called back with the results. My heart is in excellent shape yet! That's the best news I've had in the last 2 months.  :yesnod: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:

Great news. Now you can put those worries to rest and make things work FOR you.....

Glad to see you are going to be fine!

My business partner (working college - needed to add this to avoid misunderstanding  :icon_smile_blackeye:) had some strange thing few times when suddenly his heart starts to beat 160 rate per minute and not going down (after 5 hours). He was really scared when but detailed tests (and I mean ALL) did not find anything wrong. Tests went perfectly, no damage on heart but still no clue why it happening. Last time he managed to normalize heart with some "breathing technique" suggested by a friend.

Heart is one incredible "machine" I guess, still hiding few things from us.

I've had those arrhythmia's for over 30 years.  They are called PATs and are fairly benign.  But if the arrhythmia is not on the atrial side then it's a different story (sudden death syndrome).  It's caused by an electrical short circuit in the heart and can be cured via surgery, but in my case medication seems to control it well enough.  Your partner should see another doctor.  Bob

That's awesome !!!!!  But, have they found the root for your discomfort? Pain is the body's way of telling you "something's" going on........

Hopefully you're stress is fading.........

Sounds like you actually gained one.

Grief makes the little things big.  Do your best to try and marginalize the bad/small things.
Remember: things break and money can be made back.

I've been EXACTLY where you are now and came out a better person. (IMO, that's part of the test)

TruckDriver

Thanks all of you. You guys even though I will probably never meet you all, are still a part of my extended family. Thanks! I have to see my doctor in 3 months again for my "every 4 month" check up on my Testosterone levels (since my body doesn't make it anymore). I get a 3 inch needle in my lower back from a nurse every other week to inject the testosterone my body can't produce. Anyway, at that time I plan to bring up the chest pain thing again. This doctor is good. I've known him and his reputation for a lot of years. And, my mother also offered me $1000 to get my bills straighten out, and that alone, made 99% of my chest pains stop, and the monkey get off my back knowing I don't have to worry about my bills now cause I'm actually ahead right now again.

I'm glad everything's ok. Sometimes I think worrying about health issues makes us overanalyze every little oddity or pain we feel. Especially if we've had prior issues.

FlatbackFanatic

Glad everything is alright. :2thumbs: Now,(I know its hard to do) try to relax more. If you can. :yesnod:
