My Charger's rear quarter panels were repainted about 20 years ago by the original owner. There's some heavy over spray on the bottom length of the rear bumper. I've tried lacquer thinner to remove the old paint but its stubborn. What to do/try? Thanks

Penetrol. It is a paint additive used to promote adhesion and a better finish in oil based paints but it also works really good at cleaning chrome and most metal surfaces. Use it with a coarse rag or maybe even some steel wool. Any hardware stores will carry it. Test it out on a small portion of your bumper first and see if it works

Thank you, I'll try it this weekend.

depending how much over spray , take the bumper off , soak a rag with laqure thinner & lay it  on the affected area for a couple of minutes !! , then rub off with a thinner soaked rag  :yesnod:

Will paint stripper hurt chrome if you just leave it on for a minute or two, then take it off?
That would be more than enough time for it to soften the overspray.

mask off all areas that could be hurt aand use a rattl e can product called peeler.  it will tske t off.   but the superduty polish works great

elitecustombody

steel wool usually works well,if it doesn't,mask off the painted surface on the car and spray some aerosol paint stripper, avaliable at any auto parts store
