How do I manage to keep f*%#@ng up these Fel-Pro pan gaskets!?

Ok, so I'm up to two kills (probably three actually) on these &*^%@# Fel-Pro pan gaskets. :flame: I did what I was told: I spread some copper RTV on two rubber-coated fiber gaskets with the windage tray sandwiched between them, snugged them up and let them sit for a while and then torqued them. Well everything goes great until the torquing and then squish, rip, squeeze; here comes a chunk of one or both gaskets getting pooped out the side like a fat chick sitting on a pumpkin pie. On the first kill I let them sit overnight before torquing them and of course that didn't work so tonight I let them sit for just 20 minutes and that didn't work any better. WTH am I doing wrong?! The book says to torque them to 15 ft. lbs. and I can barely get them to 10 ft. lbs. before they start flattening out. It's getting expensive but not nearly as much as it is frustrating. :icon_smile_angry: :brickwall:

Should I try a pair of those rubber-coated fiber steel core gaskets for $29 each? :brickwall:

:slap:

I saw that the first time; so how are MP rubber-coated fiber gaskets any different than FelPro rubber-coated fiber gaskets? :shruggy:

ACUDANUT

When are they going to make rubber fel-pro ones, like the valve cover types. CORK SUCKS.

These aren't cork, they're rubber-coated fiber.

Simple, TRV the entire thing and be done with it...I've found Permatex, High temp BLACK is your best friend when dealing with leaking oil pans....Imports have been doing this for years...

I never silicone the cork gaskets...ruins them every time

If you use silicone you barely put any on. Make sure your pan flanges are flat and just snug them down till you see the gasket move out a tiny bit and your done. Once you go back and tighten them again you disturb the sealing surface. There is no need to go back and tighten again......there is no torquing them.

There is no way @ 15 lbs your not going to blow them out! (just snug them down till over night to let the RTV dry in the corners then snug another 1/2 turn) 15 lbs is way to much.  :2thumbs:

Try this,it is Silicone based but not slick like most Silicone's.You can use it on everything and it won't squeeze out or leak.

Alright. Thanks for the advice and sorry I went a little bonkers last night. I was getting a little peeved about this issue in case you couldn't tell.
