For some reason these ads really irritate me....How can you list the car as a 1 owner when you did not buy the car new yourself.  I see this all the time.  I also have a 1 owner car.  Iam the only single owner  listed on the title. It just happened to of been sold probably 7 or 8 times over in it's lifetime, but that doesnt matter. does it?

I understand it being called a one owner as long as the story is explained as he did. He bought it from the originalone owner and fixed it up for sale, without registering it.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Sorry guys, I still don't get it.  If you buy a car from someone else, repaint it and rebuild the motor.  You are owner number 2.

Khyron

I have to agree with Charger01 on this, I see his point..... registering it doesn't make you an owner.... buying it makes you an owner.

I agree as well.  Semantics doesn't change the fact that the original buyer is the only one who can call a car one owner.  I'm not even sure I'd call this guy a used car dealer, he's just a flipper.
All that said, it looks to be a nice car and I hope whoever owner number three is they give it the love and devotion it deserves.

Alaskan_TA

If buyer 2 does not put it in his name before selling it, it is called "title skipping". It is illegal.

Brock Samson

he never really says if the car runs or not...  :shruggy:

I agree, that is THE most irritating thing I see in car ads (that, and the ever-popular "I just bought this off a friend who needed money, but have to sell, because I don't have the money to restore it, but I am restoring a Hemi blah, blah). STOP STATING THIS CRAP IN YOUR ADS, you friggin' phoney liars! I realize the police "Have better things to do with their time", I get that, they do, but it would nice to catch these geeks. If a car lot buys it and sells it, THEY OWNED IT. Do dealerships not register cars (I don't buy from lots)? If AlaskanT/A says it's illegal, they can't be doing it then, right?

I've never understood the fascination with "one owner" cars, so somebody buys a car brand new and abuses/neglects it while another car goes through a dozen owners all of whom pamper it and treat it with TLC.

Which would you rather have?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Ghoste

I think the general assumption is that if someone loved a car enough to keep it for 40 years then they likely took exceptional care of it.  On the other hand if a car goes to a new owner every couple of years it's more like the town hooker at best and a lemon no one wants at worst.
Yes, a generalization and an assumption but it likely has some truth to it.

charger01

Iam sure the whole idea of a "one owner car" is  the fact that only one guy has ever torn into it and can tell you everything he has done to it.  Otherwise you are buying a car that a half dozen or more guys have wrenched on replaced, rereplaced and bondoed up and so on.
