What makes B-body doors stop working fron the outside

Push the outside button, and nothing. Inside latch works fine.

I've noticed this on a lot of older B-bodies.

What causes it?

it uses two different rods, take of the door panel and check the connection..

But I was wondering what actually happens to cause it?

Does some connector fall off, rust off, break, etc?

I assume it is something age/use related, like a piece of plastic getting brittle then cracking.

Mine did this too. It is a metal clip that was missing probably feel off and went out the drain hole in the bottom of the door. I compared my drivers door to my passenger and noticed the difference. I tried to jimmy rig it just to get it by, but no luck. I had to just leave it shut until I could do the research to locate the clips. Got two clips on ebay for $4, plus $7 shipping?
