Bypassing garage door safety...

I know, it's there for safety, but here goes anyways...

I'm sick of knocking these things loose.. Now , for some reason, I can NOT get them re-adjusted properly and I think one of them needs to be replaced..

I do not have young kids. There are no pets going in/out of the garage...  So safety isn't an issue.

Is it possible to bypass these?? I know the trick of mounting them on the ceiling about 1' from each other, but I'm curious if the wires can just be tied together to create a loop?

Are you talking about the the two "eyes" that stare at each other and make sure nothing crosses the path of the door? I wouldn't worry at all about overriding or tricking that unless you had kids or pets. Isn't here a way you can just move them in farther and mount them more securely so they're not in the way? Not sure how to bypass the wiring but you might just try putting a jumper wire in from one side of the eye to the other. But I assume there's a sensor in both eyes designed to see the other.

On many one is send and one is receive so one side is a switch and the other is a power supply if that helps (?).

I've got mine mounted up high enough so the door can't close on the car.  The beam can't pass under the car.

Bypassing such a system without the benefit of an oscilloscope is difficult because the alignment signal is mixed with the power.

Id leave em, just change where they are located. All you need is the charger under the door and someone accidentally clicks the remote.

   I have remotes on our keys and have hit it and the door started going down and I got scared.   I need to move my sensors up so they hit the center of the car to be safe because sometimes I park half way in and mess with the car as I'm sure some of you do too.   The bad thing is if I'm in another part of the house I can't hear the garage door at all.   So if it gets hit the car will too.   They are a good thing to have.  Don't go cheap on us now Jeff, call out the garage door guys and have them hook you up.      And, have it set up so that no matter where the car is in the door it will block the signal.   I think you have taken plenty of chances over the last year with this car, don't take any more please.

My Charger is about 2-3 inches from the garage door It sets off the sensors so I have to hold the button to close it now.

In Bridgeport Ct about 5 years ago a little girl was playing in a garage as the grand mother was baby sitting and she was crushed to death out in the garage.  My nephew removed his some how?  I also would make sure the reverse pressure setting is low so if it does hit something it returns back up easily.

You guys are right. I'm going to move the sensors up from floor level to hit the middle of the car. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Ok, I just got back in. I remove the brackets/sensors from their floor location (where every leaf blowing by set them off) and put them at MID-CAR level. They are both identical and neatly tucked off to the sides now, not sticking out past the track.. It works perfectly!!!

The ex once closed the door on the hatch of her shiney black Turbo Z backing up after hitting the button one too many times with the old deathtrap opener. 

I suppose if I'd have tossed her out of my life before that I wouldn't have bought the new door opener.   Coulda saved $$$ all the way around.

This made me think of something though....those eye thingies on mine are way low.  Not like I take my cars out of the garage anyway.
