The FOUR million dollar Charger

Well since no one was willing to open the bidding at a cool million bucks the car has now been relisted stirctly as an E-bay for sale ad and it's only 4 million dollars.

I wasn't sure at first that it warranted a separate topic but after a few minutes of wondering why someone would relist a car for 4 times the price they formerly wanted to open bidding at (and no one bid on it!)?
I think the issue of what the car is worth has been established so I just don't understand it.  I guess I do actually but can they really be thinking this will work?

4 million :o  that's a lot of dough  :yesnod:   car is irreplaceable though !! can't pick up hemmings  & find another like that !!  just shows how crazy our hobby has gone  :yesnod:

Really at this point he's just advertising that it is for sale......he can now "knock 3 mill off the price" for you if you want it.  :smilielol:

You would have thought better pictures would have been added instead of the "fuzzy" ones that are still on there.

Four Mill should get you both cars...and you would have thunk they should have cleaned up that washer bottle on the "pink" car
:D

Well that car is rare, and extremely low milage, but it's still a first gen Charger (sorry, I do like them, too) and will never be worth what the later cars are. Kinda like the 66/67 Hemi Plymouths, just don't draw the big bucks. Would I love to have it, sure! But even if I won the Mega Millions $100million jackpot, I wouldn't buy that car for anywhere near his first asking price...

:iagree:  except knock $3.75 million off

Aero426

My gut tells me $250k ought to be enough to buy it.    Beautiful car, great history.   The owner has drank too much of his own Kool Aid.

Ghoste

I realize he's going by his (mis)appraisal but to try and sell it for a million and get no takers and then relist for four million is the part that boggles me.  I get it that he's really just advertising it now since it's no longer an auction but since he had no bids for a million (and remember that was his opening bid, so he was expecting more than that) who is he going to "knock 3 mill off the price" for?  If the plan is to advertise it like this for two months and then try and sell it in January at the circus in the desert he'll get a true appraisal of the car; B-J is no reserve.
As far as knocking 3 million off, is ad makes it clear that he will not accept any low offers.  I'd guess that 25% of his asking price would be considered a low offer.

b5blue

Yea I figured he was kinda on crack @ 1mil.  :eek2:

That there is some nice looking grass. The appraiser must have smoked a bunch of it before he started banging away on the calculator.

IMO, the advertising he is going for here is about the $4,000,000.00 Mopar for sale on eBay.  Get some media to pick it up.  Kinda like Jesus on a potato chip or selling the naming rights to your kid.

Another question.  You've had it forever.  Why try to sell it in this economy?

Ghoste

My understanding is that there may be some health issues but I do not know that for fact personally.  All the same it just seems to be the most out of touch car for sale right now.  For that matter, I don't believe the results would have been much different three years ago.  He should have taken the million dollar offer from the Chrysler Museum when it was on the table.

IDIOTS!!!!
If the thing didn't sell for 1,000,000....why jack up the price to 4,000,000! :slap:

Wow!  Did not know about the offer.  Now I'm going with the Kool Aid theory.

The70RT

I doubt he will get a million at BJ's. Maybe a couple years ago he might have. I don't think the quality of the pics matter. If anyone was gonna shell out a lot of cash for it has probably seen it around before and was previously interested. Since all the car shows are over now maybe he just want's to show it online. Maybe he's thinking of black friday......

I'll take 5, cashier's ceck from an off shore acount Ok for you?...

nakita7

Maybe he relisted it so we could talk about it?  :scratchchin:

Ghoste

So far that looks to be the only productive thing coming out of it.

Scaregrabber

It's not a $4m car for sure. However it is one gorgeous, irreplaceable piece of Mopar history. It's not just another restored 66 Charger Hemicar. It's a pretty silly ad really and doesn't do the car justice. A real collector would sooner have that car than 4 restored, bondoed and dolled up 71 Cuda's.

id only give him $4 million for it if the house in the background came with it. :yesnod:
