Guy's how would you feel about someone picking on people because they can't spell all the best? And almost when you made a topic that person would enter that thread and take and quote what you said and in build letters corrected the words to there likings and then kinda say something smart when you say something to them. I'll admit that I'm not the best speller at all and that I use spell checker but afew of the boards that I'm on doesn't have that program to use. And this one person keeps at me only on afew boards due to my spelling.   :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Sounds like he just wants to pick on ya and can't find anything else. Just look at it this way....if misspelling a word every now and then is all someone can find wrong with you to point out....you're doin just fine in my book. :2thumbs:

Download iespell.

Just right click and select check spelling. Works great for forums with no spell checker.

Insecure people tend to try and pick on others to make up for there tiny little brains or wieners, possibly both, or the fact that they have no control in their own life. If you know they mock you in an attempt to upset you, don't get upset, that will wear them down.  :2thumbs:

I'd say that person is pretty petty and likely has a problem with their own self esteem. I say that because it is a common belief that people that pick on others do so in order to make themselves feel better.

I'll admit that sometimes I'll find a post on a board that is extremely difficult to read because of spelling mistakes and poor grammar, but so what? It's not the end of the world and I don't really think any less of the person that posted the message. I'll re-read as much as I need to or just skip past it if I'm not in the mood. I'll get the gist of things from the other posts and come back if I need more detail.

Every one has redeeming qualities. Only one facet of a person should not define your impression of that person. Everyone excels at something. If the written word is not your strongest point, no big deal. Keep at it and you'll get better.

That said, I have a rule by which I categorize people: No one is an a$$hole until they prove otherwise. Then, they're always an a$$hole in my book. Race, colour, creed, education, etc has no bearing.
I look at it as my equal opportunity policy.  :D

All my local Mopar buddy's have punctuation deficiency.  None of them are on forums though except daytonakid, but he has a pretty good grasp on it.

You think I'm smart enough to spell "punctuation deficiency" or any other big words.  Heck no, I use Firefox & it never lets me spell a word wrong.  It'll put a little squiggly line under any questionable words.

Now how you structure your words...you're on your own.

MoparManJim

Thanks you all for the advice and feelings on the issue here that I'm having with this dude. Everything the guy does is always about him mostly on the forum I'm on that he is on also. If you say something to him about it in the thread he will run to the on line site that had the worddefines of what the words means and he will post it  ::) in a reply.

I can make a post and sooner or later he will come along and read it and make a quote of what I said and a new quote along with correct words all in capital and and at times bold. I know he's probably a member here also as he owns a charger.

I think is important to make an effort to at least show what's on your mind clearly, and bad spelling is not so bad that it gets in the way of understanding for the second part, of course I think is valid to try to have a good spelling, and a spell check helps sometimes, but nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes, some people seem to forget that often, and it's easier to see the problems of others, than your own, I've seen a lot of these spelling nazis writing things that, while spelled correctly, lacked basic word structure, and don't matter how much you try it seems impossible to understand what they are saying.
You have two ways to solve this thing, you either ignore them, or my favorite, you try to pick just one mistake they did, and then it's revenge time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could care less how anyone else on here spells. Everyone makes mistakes when they ae typing fast. Some just don't care. It irritates me when I screw up! To the point where I reread everything just to check, and I still screw up!

See I screwed up. Not on purpose but decided not to fix to show Im a dumbass..

As petty as it all seems on the surface, we are attempting to communicate using just the written word. It is best to at least try to get it right and not be lazy (we all make mistakes). Also learn real words, not spelling out the way you say them, like "pose" means to assume a certain position or gesture. Which is different from "suppose" or "supposed", which means to assume is real or true. No big deal to most English speaking people, but remember quite often many like to participate that are not English speaking. These people will have a hard time understanding.

A good tool to help with spelling is to use Mozilla Firefox as a web explorer. It has spell check built in.

Landonsrt

I honestly dont care. If you can type enough to get the general idea out. Good nuff!

Figure that out!

I'm on a few message boards and although I try to have good grammar and spelling, sometimes I do mess up. Hell, I'm an old farm boy so what can people expect...

That said, Spelling and structure is important if you want people to read what you have to say. One of the things I hate is to try to carry on a conversation on a message board and have to try to translate it in to what I think they are trying to say.

On one board I'm on there is a guy that uses the "I wunt 2 do that 2", " why wud u do that 4 any1" stuff and he puts everything into 1 paragraph. Some as much as a page long. I'm not going to try to decipher what he has to say in one of those types of post and I think he's a pretty smart man... Which brings up my point to all this.

I think some people tend to associate IQ or a persons mentality with spelling and grammar structure. I'm not saying that to be mean or try to put anyone on the defensive, I'm just saying what I see on other boards and sometimes I'm guilty of it myself. One guy that I work with can't spell worth a crap and he uses words in conversation that sound like what he wants to say but have different meanings. It makes you wonder how he graduated but he's a smart man. Hell it's not even a question of being smart, it's just the way it's perceived.

It's just my take on the subject..

Now, here's something you are welcome to use to come back at him with next time he cuts you down for your spelling. Ask him if he picks on your spelling because he cant come up with anything intelligent on his own.

I agree, although this is really the only forum/message board that I'm on and I'm not a native speaker so my English is by no means perfect, but it can be annoying at times when someone's spelling or grammar is so bad that I have a hard time translating it. I'm not talking about the their/they're mistakes here.

Arthur

EDIT: I should say though that picking on someone about it is rather immature and shows a real lack of character. I would just ignore the guy. Personally if the spelling gets so bad that I can't understand it anymore I just don't read it. No need to pick on someone about it.

Nea, he's not a teacher of any short. He works and trys to get to each event that he can each each year that had a cleb and then after wards he's bragging about that he met this person or that person afew times. He has afew mopars but only works on two of them where as I only have one mopar and thats a charger that I been working on for the past few years now and it needs alot of body work done to yet it. But this guy takes the cake though as he think it's all about him in away. Some of the members have already told him about the way he is. Heck they even told me also about myself before and I even improved on my spelling so they can more better understand what I'm saying but it's this one that loves to at times correct only my spelling when in facvt there are afew other members there that is hard to read there posts and understand what they are saying. When I reply to them I use the quote and change there words to make it sound right but yet I don't say nything to them about there original post though. After I change the words in there post in my quote then I go about what I was going to say to help them out with there topic on what ever it is at times. But I don't capital the letters or put them in bold or tell them about it.

I don't really care if someone misspells a few words here and there as long as I can understand the substance of what they're saying. Hell, I do it myself sometimes. This is a car forum, not Modern Language Sciences message board.

However, sometimes I am left scratching my head when someone makes a post where neither the spelling, the structure, or the grammar is intelligible.
