Any opinions and real world experience with Heat Shield Products? Specifically the line of Inferno wrap and heat shields.  :icon_smile_question:

Yes, since you had to ask, we lost the shifter cable on the header. The Thermo Tec stuff just does not live up to the advertised heat barrier claim. We have added tie backs and clamps, but need to add the best heat shield we can find. And wrap part of the header. Is Heat Shield Products Inferno what we should use?

Thanks, Dan.

does it touch the header? if so nothing will protect it,  I have found 1/2 inch minimum clearance for cables I have the silver shield than wrapped that with the fel pro 1200 degree shield

The cable doesn't touch the header but so close as to cause meltdown even with Thermo Tec sleeve. Our thinking is to wrap the header, wrap the cable, and add the heat shield in between. Is the HeatShield products Inferno the best shield, or about the same as the rest? :icon_smile_question:

The headers are TTI with ceramic.

The other option available is to change out the BM shifter to Lokar or Cheetah, but there are problems with doing so, as well as money spent just to lose a perfectly good shifter. Hence the question about the Heat Shield product and wrapping the header.

I will be calling BM but I know the answer: all their shifters loop the cable toward the front. :'(

Ideas anyone?

Thanks, good tip, I'll add TTI to my list of calls and see what they think.

As a follow-up, TTI said to never wrap the pipe. It is a no-no from their engineers.

Instead of using the Inferno shield from Heat Shield, I went with their HP Armor product, based on their tech advice. It is their top of the line product and it is awesome, just as they described.

I simply anchored it with stainless tie wraps, between the pipe and the shifter cable. It is extremely flexible. In the past 7 weeks I have put the Hemi thru 300 very hard and HOT miles. Nothing melted. Everything is perfect and I am very very happy.

HP Armor is not available at their web site, you have to go to one of their dealers. http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/Shop-by-Brand/Heatshield-Shields-and-Jackets/Heatshield-HP-Armor

The tech guy at Heat Shield was a great help. I can give an enthusiastic endorsement to their product as well as their service.
