Jack Stand removal from trunk help...

Hi everyone,
I have a '68 Charger and I'm trying to take the jack out of the trunk.  I may be dumb, but I'm having a heckuva time trying to pull that sucker out of there.  I was figuring I would somehow have to slide the bumper jack support downwards in order to release the pressure of the spring.  And then, from there I would just unhook the spring from the jack and pull it out.  But, I'm having a problem trying to lower the jack support, I flipped the release lever up and down while at the same time tried to pull the support down, but it wouldn't budge.  I thought it would be easy as long as I checked to see that nothing was resting on the teeth of the jack.  Please help and thanks...

You need to put the jack lever in the down position, then grab the jack lever where the handle would go in.
Then pull the lever back/downwards, the jack base will go up slightly, but when it gets past that slight
upwards section, and it will go down a full position, but make sure you are pulling down the jack mechanism
at the same time you are doing this so the mechanism will come down, this will have to be repeated several
times to make it loose enough to pull it loose.
