Nice, original '68 R/T, Dan. My vote is to keep it as is! Your "then girl lfriend" made a great decision....  :2thumbs:

Keep it with out the stripe like original. There are not very many Charger's left that are all original like yours. Looks great the way it is. :Twocents:
I like stripes, but agree this car should be left as is.

Hey Dan,

$500 in 1982? You're killing me dawg! That color is just gorgeous, I'm not a white top guy but with the ww's it looks tits. My wife and I are so anxious to get our 69 in for paint that seeing your car makes waiting even more difficult. Our car is a stripe delete also. We're not willing to forego the R/T emblems to put a stripe on it even though I kinda like the stripe. Nakita7's suggestion for a vinyl white strip is a good one and you don't have to lose emblems. You can always pull it off with a heat gun/hairdrier if it just doesn't feel right. All in all a beauty.

Hi Dan,

It's 50-50 for everyone on the stripe.  I love it as is, more unique.  Makes people do a double take, when they see the badge in the grille, but not the bumble bee stripe!   :2thumbs:

Thanks for all the in put guys/gals. I think the NO stripe vote has won out, I have never seen
a charger in this color combo with a stripe at all. There is a JJ1 Gold Hemi Charger that lives
three miles away from me. His car is stripe delete as well, But his has a black int and a black
top, he did put a black stripe on it, and it looks great.

The interior is 90% original, I did restore the dash and now have white gauges. I also put
new carpet in 12yrs ago, and we put a new headliner in two years ago when I had the new
Pearl White top installed ''same guy''.

Note: the rear seat belts, only two, and the buckles are chrome, hard to see in the pic.
It is a December 67 car.

The rest of the interior is original, evan the front seats and dash pads, and door panels.

Thanks again for the in put everybody, my wife is still on the fence with the stripe, but would
rather not have one.

Looks great! I have a JJ1 gold stripe delete car too (currently turquoise with a black stripe though). Yours is a very unique combination and I'd leave it just the way it is.

I talked with you before about your turquoise charger, that is probably my second favorite 68 color.
It was about two years ago, and then you told me it was originally gold, but I did not have the money.
Didn't you get that car from TRAV? Is the interior in that car originally black?

I actualy had two other 68 R/T Chargers in this same color combo before I bought this one.
I sold one to a friend, and parted out the other   :icon_smile_dissapprove:   I had seven other
68 R/T's before 1982, never spent over $500.00 for any of them, those were the days   :yesnod: :yesnod:

:o :o your car rock :punkrocka: thanks for showing the interior. very very nice.  :2thumbs:

I still need to do a lot of engine bay work, it is still in daily driver mode. I have all of the
correct hoses clamps, and several other items I NEED A MOPAR BATTERY   :yesnod:
The last one lasted 8yrs, incredible.

Yes, this is the original diameter unsilenced air cleaner, most people don't think they were
right, or don't like them, and put on the more common smaller version. That is actually
what I did over 20yrs ago, but I put the original one back on, its an early 68, it is not
uncommon for early 68's to have this size.

Now these air cleaners are hard as hell to find, and twice as expensive.

I love everything about that car.....simply awesome :2thumbs: I wouldn't put a stripe on it! :Twocents:

I love the color combo of the charger. Back in summer of 82' I almost bought a blue 68' R/T charger in Kent area. 440 car w/power windows, asking price was $1200.00. I had the cash on me but guy there before me bought it after test drive. It would have been my 4th charger back then if I had got it, funny thing is though, guy that bought it had a gold 68' charger. I didn't get a good look at his car, but I was jealous of it as well.

Yes, mine has a black vinyl top and black interior. I was also asking you about the "correct" QQ1 since you have one of those too. My other R/T is QQ1 with a white top, black interior, and stripe delete (it's also a 4-speed, track pack car with an 8 track and headrests). It's an early car too but I'm missing the seat belts and air cleaner so I have no idea what it originally came with.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

8WHEELER

I still have not got my QQ1 RT Charger painted correctly yet, saving money for that project.
I wish I was more help, but my QQ1 car was painted green before 1978, that was the
last time the car had been tabbed, it was still green when I got it in 2001. I am going
to get Westco to get the correct paint for me, from the door jam, on the door that
still has a good original blue area to shoot there gun at.

I don't think I have seen more than one QQ1 charger with a white top, and black int. That
is a stunning combo. I look forward to seeing your QQ1 car, is it blue now? My blue & pearl
white int will look sweet, but its a pain to get good parts for, but I think I have everything.

I really wanted a white interior (would match most of my other cars) but you take what you can get when the cars start getting rare. My dream car is QQ1, white top, white interior, non-console 4-speed so I came real close (track pack and the 8-track are bonuses). It has an Inland shifter which doesn't thrill me but I'll make do. Mine is still wearing its original paint - although its faded and someone attacked it with sand paper. The trunk lid still has some awfully pretty paint though.

It was nice to finally get to see her car Dan.  I didn't get to give it a good going over.  I can't remember why?

You two have some nice rides'!

The only time I can get either one of the girls interested in mine is when I sell one.  ;)

8WHEELER

I her ya Mike, the wife is happy about her car, but she will be real excited when I sell
the Dart Sport, and most of the parts I have. But I know I have it better than most.
When I saw your garage, it reminded me of my last place, the house was OK, but the
garage was very very limiting.

I know the feeling. We looked at a house that was kinda crappy but had a 6 car shop. That place sold though so we ended up getting a newer nice place but it has a 2 car garage that the Charger barely fits in length wise.

Good looking car.

I vote no on the stripe.  It's a rich color and the white walls compliment the top just right.  But, if you do photo shop it, do one w/stripe and no white walls.

$500? I couldn't find that deal back in the day. Good for you!

six-tee-nine

Almost a true surviver car.... She looks great as is....
BTW Chargers are cool with the stripe on it but a SD car is even cooler imo
