Before pics first

I bought this car in 1982 for myself for $500.00. It had 62k on it at the time, looked just like
this when I bought it, except the front left fender was perfect  :rotz: a guy at work backed
into it in 1983  :icon_smile_angry:  I liked him, so he lived.  The second owner, we are the
third owner, put the right front in the ditch. Lucky for all, no major damage or frame problems.

I had the car one day and my ''then girlfriend'' said she liked it. Next thing you know it was her car,
and she was driving to work every day, she drove it to work every day from 1982 till 1990 when I
bought her a new car, and we were able to keep it in the garage full time. It has 108k on it now.

We have been slowly working on it for 4yrs now. I have a couple before pics, from five years ago.

Yes Chris, it still has the wrong washer bottle on it, I have the correct ones now, still a work in progress.

My wife is pretty happy so far, still have many things to fix and make correct, this is one of two
Chargers I am keeping bone stock ''as I can''.

This is the stock correct 1968 JJ1 Gold Metalic color, it came from the factory
with. I just had the car re-painted in 2008 but not home, this is the second repaint.

Just got it back from my paint guy in August 2009, so have not got much other stuff done on it yet.

The engine is all stock & original numbers matching ''not apart or rebuilt yet''
It still has the original numbers matching 1968 727 transmission, in stock from.
Also retains the original rear end with 323 sure grip
Stock 10.1 to 1 compression
Original 906 heads
NEW in 1988 Mild comp cam, fuel pump cam lobe went flat.
NEW in 1988 Double roller timing chain and gears
Original intake
Original exhaust manifolds
Original carburetor
Original air cleaner
Original radiator and fan shroud
Original water pump housing
On and on

My wife and I are still not sure about the stripe. It is a stripe delete car, but would it look
better without it? Every one else puts them on, I love them, thinking of bucking the trend on
this car, the stripe may not look good with the white top  :shruggy:

What do you guys think, would it look better with the bumbee stripe? please feel free to help
us decide. Can some of you photoshop experts put a stripe on this car  :2thumbs: that would
really help, we have never put the stripe on.

Hi Dan,

It's looking very good, my compliments.
For what it's worth, I would keep the stripe deleted for this one!

Hey Jeroen

Thanks for the input, Its kind of a tough call  :scratchchin:

It is coded as a white wall car as well, and that is good actually. I put red lines
on it for a short time, and it clashed with the color of the car, and the white
top, my wife loves the white walls     :yesnod: :yesnod:

Nice. :2thumbs: I think I might have seen that car once in person.

Maybe someone can photoshop a stripe on it for you so you can se what it looks like first.

y3chargerrt

Love your wifes car Dan.! I love it as is but a white bumble bee stripe would really set it off.

UFO

Very nice! That is a great color combo.
As for the stripe,I think I would go without.

Troy

Looks great! I have a JJ1 gold stripe delete car too (currently turquoise with a black stripe though). Yours is a very unique combination and I'd leave it just the way it is.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

nakita7

I normally don't like to see Mopars changed from original, but....because the 68 stripe is just plain cool, I'd slap one on. Put a decal on, you should be able to remove it with a hairdryer and buff the paint if you change your mind a few years.

Put a red stripe on... that would really mess up all the 'numbers' guys...

TruckDriver

Keep it with out the stripe like original. There are not very many Charger's left that are all original like yours. Looks great the way it is. :Twocents:

Would this be a white hat special with the with vinyl top being white a strip delete car? :2thumbs:

Rallye

Wow!  Very pretty.  As far as the stripe goes, I would add a white one.
But with that being said, I think it's gorgeous as is.   :2thumbs:

I like stripes, but agree this car should be left as is.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
